Study Shows Journalists Like Casual Sex....Duh!

According to a new study, people working in the media prefer casual sexual relationships over lifelong commitments or hookups.

According to a recent study, courtesy of the dating app Clover, one’s occupation can actually shape one’s sex life. The findings reveal that thespians and engineers are among the 9-to-5 workers who prefer hookups over casual relationships, whereas doctors and lawyers seek friendship above all.

The study points out that Although most professionals, including Journalists, police officers and teachers, opt for casual relations, accountants and nurses are among those seeking lifelong commitments.

Clover fail to note what sort of “data” has been analyzed from 33,000 of its users and a handful of popular professions have been left off the list.

Plus it doesn't point out how many Photographers hooked up with the Reporter in the back of the live truck.

Former Producer: ABC News Has Lost its Way

Former TV News Producer Frank Gottlieb says that ABC News is no longer a legitimate news operation and has lost its way.

He points to Tuesday's NightLine as exhibit 'A', Gottlieb writes on his Facebook page:

The case in point is Tuesday's Nightline..... the day of the Intelligence Committee report on CIA torture. There was not a word about the report on the broadcast. It would have been the only story during the Ted Koppel era.

Instead there were reports on sleep apnea, and parallels between Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing" and the recent New York police choking death. The last segment was David Muir interviewing the cast of "Into the Woods." The small detail of it being a Disney production, ABC's parent, was the anchor tag at the end of the program. That explains why James Corden wasn't part of the story even though he's the film's male lead. Corden takes over Craig Ferguson's spot opposite Nightline next month. Almost forgot, Rosie Perez of ABC's "The View" was the primary guest in the Spike Lee segment.

Gravitas is what Ted Koppel brought to Nightline. With Roone Arledge at the helm and Peter Jennings anchoring ABC became a well regarded news organization. They have become Disneyfied to the public detriment.

What a Novel Idea

It would seem that a email like this should not have to be sent, but in these star worshipping times, we guess it does.

The White House Correspondents' Association sent an email out to news organizations, urging them to resist jockeying for celebrity guests for April’s annual dinner and try to invite more actual White House correspondents.

What a concept.

“An important priority for us is making sure that as many of your hard-working journalists who actually cover the White House, and are members of our association; get a chance to attend the dinner,” read the email. “So while we continue to welcome you to bring special guests of your choice, we also strongly encourage you to invite as many of our members who work at your organization as possible.”

Over the past several years, news organizations have tried to one up each other by inviting celebrities to sit at their table, so the other kids will think they're cool.

Christi Parsons, a White House reporter for Tribune newspapers and the current president of the WHCA, said in an email to HuffPost that she didn't know if news organizations are planning to invite more celebrities than in previous years.

But, she said, "I can tell you it really galls a lot of us that people we work side-by-side with every day don’t get to come."

The dinner costs $300 a seat or $3,000 for a table.

FTVLive was invited to the dinner last year and we declined.

LA Station Dropping Two Newscasts

CBS owned KCAL is dumping two of their newscasts.

Now, before anyone gets in a panic, it should be pointed out that the station is pulling the plug on their hour long newscast at 2:00 p.m. and their half-hour newscast at 3:00 p.m.

Not exactly prime time news viewing hours.

The newscasts will be dumped before the end of the year, the station says there will be no layoffs and the people working on those two shows will be allocated to other newscasts.

Reporter is Live From the "CASH" Scene? Huh?

The big story in Charlotte yesterday, was the rollover crash involving Carolina Panther Quarterback Cam Newton.

The Newton crash story was the lead story across the board and stations had a number of Reporters covering many different angles.

According to this screen grab, WSOC's Mark Becker was at the CASH scene.  We're guessing when a high price quarterback goes down, there's always a cash scene.

Of course as many Panther fans know, this isn't the first Cam Newton drive to end in a turnover.

Bada boom!

WTF does that Mean Weather Channel?

As FTVLive has said in the past, The Weather Channel's naming of winter storms is one of the dumbest ideas we have seen in TV news (and that's saying a lot).

But now it appears TWC has come up with new forecasts for snow.

Not sure what "snow hard harder" is, but for some reason my date used those exact same words with me in bed this past weekend. Maybe she said "go hard harder" but it sounded the same.

Harrisburg Anchor Fired After Telling Joke

WHTM Anchor/Reporter Al Gnoza has left the building and the station isn't saying why?

But, it seems like it was a joke about Three Mile Island that Gnoza gonzo from the station. Gnoza's response to a fan last week on Twitter suggested that he had been reprimanded following a joke he made on air about the semi-annual Three Mile Island emergency warning sirens, but was hoping to return to the air Dec. 8.

The joke, according to a Tweet that Gnoza shared on his profile, was "If you hear a siren tomorrow, we are all going to die."

It appears that the suspension has turned into a firing, but of course, the station isn't talking. "Because this is a personnel matter, I can only tell you that Mr. Gnoza is no longer an employee of ABC27," WHTM GM Joe Lewin said.

Gnoza, who was at the station for a decade is also not talking, but his fans are on social media:

Stay tuned....

After 14 Year Absence, Station to Bring Back News

It appears that the newscast at WEVV in Evansville wasn't dead after all, it was just taking a really long break.

The station announced that they will soon be under new ownership and they're bringing back local news.

Texas-based Bayou City Broadcasting expects to have the deal finalized next month and WEVV's general manager Tim Black says the new owner wants to return local news to the programming.

WEVV is affiliated with both the CBS and Fox networks.

Black says the station hasn't had a local newscast since 2001.

Coming Home

Eboni Deon, who grew up in Indianapolis before heading south to build a career in television weather reporting, is returning to her hometown.

The Indianapolis Business Journal says that Deon, a North Central High School graduate, will join WISH on Saturday as a meteorologist for its 6 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. weekend newscasts, WISH News Director Steve Bray announced Tuesday.

“I’m thrilled to be moving back to my home state and going to work for the station I grew up watching,” Deon said in a written statement.  “I look forward to being part of a team with a weather coverage reputation like WISH-TV.”

Her most recent job was at ABC-TV affiliate WFTV Channel 9 and sister station WRDQ-TV in Orlando, Fla.

Deon will help replace Pamela Gardner, who departed WISH in late November to take a job with WBZ in Boston.

Piers Morgan: Anderson Cooper is a Big Diva

Piers Morgan, still very bitter about being fired at CNN says that Anderson Cooper is a big diva.

Imagine that?

Morgan appeared on Fox News' Kelly File, which apparently needed to fill time.

Who's a diva over at CNN? Kelly asked. "Anderson [Cooper]," Morgan dished. "He's a pretty big diva, yeah. Anyone that combs their hair that closely and that neatly ..."

Morgan has admitted that he wants back into the TV game baby, but says he is enjoying his gig as a newspaper hack at The Daily Mail. Morgan said that he's enjoying writing two or three columns per week - usually of a "highly provocative nature," as he put it.

He also says he does not regret his anti gun stance he took at CNN, which he claims lost him his job.

The real reason he lost his job was because he sucked, while the "diva" continues to work at CNN and 60 Minutes.
