Lauer to Former Intern: I Always Tried to be Nice to you

Matt Lauer is getting smacked from everywhere and it appears that he is reading it all.

Each day this week a new story has come out about the Debacle at Today and each day it seems someone is taking a shot the once Golden Boy, Matt Lauer.

There was an interesting exchange on Twitter that started with a Producer at Fox 8 in Cleveland relaying a story that Anchor Mark Zinni told about his days as an Intern on the Today Show.

WNBC Backs Away from Sharing Agreement in NY

WNBC Backs Away from Sharing Agreement in NY

4 years ago, the economy was in the shitter and TV stations were trying to find anyway they could to save a buck.

Even in big markets you saw the start up of  Local News Service (LNS), where stations would share video and resources between themselves. It seemed odd that competitors would pool their resources. But, at the time it was about saving the dough.

4 years later and the stock market is at an all time high and TV stations are back making big money with advertising and cable retrans fees. and the Local News Service is starting to fall apart.

The War on Jay Leno

The War on Jay Leno

The Hollywood Reporter has a great must read piece of how NBC is kicking Jay Leno out the door even though he is on top of the ratings and just where he might end up.

THR writes that the news that NBC was going to bounce Leno prompted a media frenzy not seen in late-night TV since, well, the last time NBC attempted to dethrone Leno. That 2009 effort to install Conan O'Brien at Tonight and move Leno to a nightly 10 p.m. show backfired colossally. Within months, Leno reacquired his 11:35 perch and O'Brien left for a lesser-watched TBS gig and a $45 million payout.

But while Leno remained mostly silent during the Conan debacle -- even as his rivals and the media pushed a Leno-as-villain narrative -- this time he fueled the flames of speculation. Leno and other hosts always have  poked fun at their networks, but after the Greenblatt email conversation became public March 15, Leno launched a week's worth of pointed jabs at his employer, referring to NBC execs as "snakes" and suggesting the network would send its top star on an ill-fated Carnival cruise.

60 Minutes Wins Two Peabody Awards

60 Minutes Wins Two Peabody Awards

I hate to burst anyone's bubble out there, but if you win or won an Emmy award it's really kind of a blah accomplishment.

Winning and Emmy is about as easy as getting accepted to Sam's Club. Plunk down your $25 bucks and you're in.

But, if you win a Peabody for your work in TV News? Now you're talking.

CBS's 60 minutes did not win one, they won two.

Can Someone Tell Maria Shriver that Christmas is Over

Can Someone Tell Maria Shriver that Christmas is Over

Word is that 95 days after Christmas, former California First Lady and part time NBC staffer Maria Shriver still has her Holiday decorations up on her house.

Sources in Maria's super fancy Brentwood community tell TMZ, the neighbors have been clucking about Maria's ultra-bright Xmas light display for weeks now ... because Christmas is long over, and the lights on the trees around her property have become an eyesore.

Past Actions Makes it Hard to Take NBC at Their Word

Today Show EP Alexandra Wallace says that NBC is not replacing Matt Lauer on the Today Show.

Of course this all comes after it was leaked out that NBC approached CNN's Anderson Copper about taking over Lauer's job on Today.

Wallace was in full damage control this morning. She said that Lauer is "the best in the business" and that NBC wants him on "Today" for many years to come.

Later Today, Wallace put out another statement “We are not considering replacing Matt Lauer.”

We're sorry, but FTVLive finds it really hard to take anyone from NBC at their word.

Years ago FTVLive reported that NBC was going to have massive layoffs. The network denied FTVLive's report all the way up to when they laid off hundreds of staffers.

FTVLive FIRST reported that the Today was going to hire Kathie Lee Gifford for the final hour of Today. Again, NBC denied the report right up until they announced they hired Gifford.

And of course, it was FTVLive that reported FIRST that NBC was going to pull Jay Leno's show at 10PM and move him back to the Tonight Show.  And again the bosses at NBC denied FTVLive's report right up to the point they pulled Leno's 10PM show.

So, for Alexandra Wallace to say that Matt Lauer is at the Today Show for the duration, the statement doesn't really hold much water.

You can only piss in someone's ear so many times and tell them it's raining.

We're guessing that Matt Lauer has some questions about his future as well.

Stay tuned...

Tucker Carlson Hits for the Cycle

Tucker Carlson Hits for the Cycle

Tucker Carlson will be making it a clean sweep with his latest job at Fox News.

The Fox News Channel announced Wednesday that it had hired Tucker Carlson as a co-host of its "Fox & Friends Weekend" morning program.

Carlson has now worked at CNN, MSNBC and now Fox News.

We expect at some point when Al Jazeera gets their version of Current TV, Carlson will eventually end up working there as well.

FTVLive was the first to tell you that Carlson was getting pushed out at MSNBC back in 2006.

Will Matt Lauer Survive at NBC?

Will Matt Lauer Survive at NBC?

My how things have change in a year.

In early April 2012 Matt Lauer put his signature on a new contract that was going to pay him over $20 million a year to co-host the Today Show.

"Matt is the franchise, and our franchise player has decided to keep leading our team,” NBC News president Steve Capus told the NY Times.

He was the Golden Boy of NBC and the Today Show.

Now has we enter April 2013, Steve Capus is gone and Matt Lauer's name is Mud.

The shine is long gone from the golden boy.

After the Jump, it looks like NBC is ready for Life after Lauer.

Report: Lauer Thinks he Was Set Up to Fail with Sandusky Interview

Did the Today Show staff set up Matt Lauer with the Sandusky story?

Lauer is said furious with the show’s producers for putting him back in the line of fire for airing an interview that controversial filmmaker John Ziegler did with convicted child rapist and former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

At least that's what RadarOnline is reporting.
