Gone in Tulsa

Staffers at KOTV in Tulsa were a bit shocked when they got the internal email that longtime Anchor Scott Thompson was leaving the station.

Thompson has been with the station for 17 years and according to the email, KOTV and Scott Thompson "have decided to move in different directions."

We wonder if Thompson had much input into that decision?

He also won't be sticking around to say a long goodbye. The email says that Friday is his last day, although they did get the date wrong.

The station has also already named Thompson's replacement (damn the body isn't even cold yet).

Here is the internal email sent to the staff and obtained by FTVLive:

Good afternoon,

After much thought, consideration and discussion Scott Thompson and News On 6 have decided to move in different directions. Scott will not be in today, but will return Thursday. His last day on air will be Friday, May 25th at 6pm.

Scott has been an important part of the history of News On 6, and we appreciate all he has done for the station, company and community. His passion for storytelling set him apart and touched many lives. We are grateful for his service and wish him only the best.

After Scott’s last night, Craig Day will be the new co-anchor with Terry Hood at 6pm and 10pm, in addition to his current role as co-anchor with Lori Fullbright at 5pm. Craig is a Green Country native, trusted journalist and admired person both in the station and community. Please join me in congratulating him on his new role.

Craig and Terry will continue to co-anchor the 9pm news on the CW for the time being. However, as we evolve and grow our product and staff, we will begin the search for two additional anchors/reporters to co-anchor the 9pm news on the CW and report for News on 6 at 10pm. The goal is to have these people in place by early Fall.

In an interesting twist of irony, Craig Day who will be replacing Thompson posted this to social media.

Ummmmm....I think I know someone he can talk to.

Just saying....
