Cannabis Reporter: Why I Quit

Cannabis Reporter: Why I Quit

Yesterday, FTVLive showed you the video of KTVA (Anchorage) Reporter Charlo Greene throwing down the F-Bomb and then quitting her job at the station.

Greene, who was a 4th place runner-up in Miss West Virginia/Miss USA pageant this year released another video to YouTube titled "Why I Quit."

The video is a rambling and reminds us what would happen if Willie Nelson and a motivational speaker got locked in the production suite.

When Green said, "Fuck it, I Quit" the station quickly released a statement saying they were sorry for her language.

What the station should have really apologized for is having the founder of the Alaska Cannabis Club doing a story about vote to legalize marijuana in Alaska.

Talk about biased reporting.

How long before Greene pops up on the Today Show?

Her latest video is up after the jump.

The Stunned Anchor

Screen Shot 2014-09-23 at 6.55.19 AM.png

Lost in the video of KTVA Reporter Charlo Greene quitting live on air, is the reaction of Anchor Alexis Fernandez after Greene's F-Bomb resignation.

After Greene throws down, the camera cuts back to Fernandez, who immediately says "sorry". But, Fernandez is clearly stunned and is lost. She throws to a break saying "We'll be right back," but the camera stays on her and then she starts reading another story.

Which means, it will go down as the shortest break in TV news history.

Let's go back to the video:

Will CNN Do the Right Thing?

Screen Shot 2014-09-22 at 9.18.10 AM.png

Back on Sept. 17th, FTVLive wrote a story asking "how does CNN's Fareed Zakaria still have a job?"

There is no doubt that Zakaria has a plagiarism problem and yet, Jeff Zucker and the gang have turned a blind eye to the entire issue.

CNN has stood behind Zakaria and said that his plagiarism was an isolated incident. It has been proven that is not the case.

Now, other media outlets are wondering as well, how Zakaria is keeping his job and nothing is being done about it.

"CNN would rather employ, give airtime to, and defend a plagiarist whose resumé they find easy to personally explain and understand than someone who is doing actual journalism, but who might take more work to reach out to or understand." writes Esquire magazine.

"CNN now faces its biggest journalistic crisis since the Operation Tailwind fiasco. It’s no longer just Zakaria’s alleged plagiarism that’s the issue. It is the network’s dogged refusal to publicly acknowledge that it even has a crisis to deal with. As I said Friday this approach is unsustainable. As more and more mainstream sites turn their attention to this story, CNN will have to do something." writes InsideCable News.

In a 2012 commencement speech at Harvard, Zakaria uttered these words:

“You don’t need an ethics course to know what you shouldn’t do.”

Someone might want to point that out to Jeff Zucker.

Dallas Sports Anchor is Dead

The man who greeted viewers with “Hello Dallas-Fort Worth… let's talk sports" has died.

Max Morgan started every one of his KDFW sportscasts with that saying, along with a smile and a magnificent baritone voice.

For nearly 21 years Morgan was there to cover it all for KDFW – two Cowboys Super Bowl wins, a Stars Stanley Cup, a Mavericks title and two trips to the World Series by the Rangers.

Morgan had been off the air recently and was admitted last week to a Dallas-area hospital suffering from congestive heart failure.

Sports anchor Mike Doocy said Max brought something to the sports department that couldn't really be measured. That intangible quality was likeability. Doocy said people just felt comfortable around Morgan and that he loved his viewers and viewers loved him.

Morgan joined KDFW in 1993.

Wife of CBS Senior VP is Killed by Bicyclist

Jill Talov, the wife of CBS Television Stations' Senior Vice President of Finance Mike Wittman was killed when she was hit by a bicyclist.

According to police, 31-year-old Jason Marshall was riding southbound in a bicycle lane when he swerved to avoid a group of pedestrians. Instead he hit Tarlov, just as the mother of two was stepping off the curb.

It's still not clear who had the right of way or how fast the biker was going. According to the New York Post, witnesses told police that Marshall yelled at Tarlov to get out of the way, but they think she didn't hear him.

In a statement, Mike Wittman said in regards to the passing of his wife:

"My wife was beautiful in every way imaginable. Jill was the most amazing mother to Matthew and Anna, who taught them above all that kindness, compassion, and a spirit for life were the right morals to live by. Everyone who had ever met her was somehow made better by her company.

You're Kidding....Right?

CNN's Brian Stelter is having some trouble trying to line up an interview with....get this...... another CNN Anchor.

It seems that CNN's Stelter wants to CNN's Fareed Zakaria, but hasn't been able to land him yet.

Zakaria has been called out by a number of people, for plagiarism. It has happened quite a few times and the CNN bosses have looked the other way on the numerous incidents.

While the CNN suits don't seem to care, Stelter thinks it's an "important story" and wants to sit down with him.

But, so far that hasn't happened:

Really?! How hard are you trying?

If you can't land an interview with someone that works at the same network as you, then CNN is more fucked than advertised.

Just saying....

Station Says it Has Fired the Reporter that Quit.... HUH?!

FTVLive showed you earlier the video of KTVA (Anchorage) Reporter Charlo Greene throwing down the F-Bomb and then quitting her job at the station.

Greene, who was a 4th place runner-up in Miss West Virginia/Miss USA pageant this year (that says a lot) said that she is quitting her job to run Alaska Cannabis Club, and will be dedicating her energy helping legalize marijuana here in Alaska," she said.

After her F-bomb incident last night, KTVA released this statement:

Ummmmmm..... how do you fire someone that has already quit?

Just asking.....

Fox DC News Director Headed to the Left Coast

FIRST ON FTVLive! Fox sources tell FTVLive that Dana Hahn, News Director of WTTG in DC, is headed to the left coast to run KTVU’s newsroom.

Fox recently agreed to trade their Boston station (WFXT) with Cox for KTVU.

Hahn has only been in DC a year after being bumped up from the ND gig at WJBK in Detroit.

Sources tell FTVLive that the WTTG staff has yet to be told that their news boss is leaving and that they will be getting their third ND in the past 14 months. Word is that Hahn is well liked & respected in WTTG newsroom.

As for who lands the gig at the DC station?

No word yet, but odds on favorite is Paul McGonagle - the current ND at WFXT in Boston.

We hear that's not quite a ‘done deal’, as long-time Fox exec/WTTG GM Patrick Paolini has to ‘sign off’ on that possibility.

Stay tuned....

Reporter Throws Down the F-Bomb and Quits

Reporter Throws Down the F-Bomb and Quits

KTVA (Anchorage) Reporter Charlo Greene did something last night, that TV people all over have fantasized about doing.

She quit live on the air and do so using the F-Bomb.

Greene announced that she is leaving the station to now work in helping legalize marijuana. She said she is owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club

"Everything you heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska," she said.

"And as for this job," Greene continued, "Well, not that I have a choice, but fuck it, I quit."

At that point she walked off the set. Needless to say the Anchor was caught a bit off guard when they came back to the desk.

The video is up after the jump.

Oh CNN...You Just Can't Help it Can You

Sometimes you really wish that CNN could just do something right for once.

The used to be cable news network has become the butt of late night jokes and has no credibility left what-so-ever.

Yet, you still hold out hope, that maybe, just maybe they can turn it around.

Then CNN stumbles again.

The latest screw up is minor, but just shows they can't even get the simple things right.

While airing developments in the story about Arizona Cardinals’ player, Jonathan Dwyer’s arrest, CNN displayed a graphic to show the recent domestic violence charges associated with NFL players.

Instead of the NFL Arizona Cardinals logo, CNN used the St. Louis Cardinals’ baseball team logo.

The bat that the cardinal is sitting on, should have been a dead give away that it wasn't the right logo.

Of course, the screw up did let the people on Twitter have some fun:

Ouch! That last one hurt.

"Win With The Media"

Screen Shot 2014-09-22 at 6.38.50 AM.png

The St. Louis County and Municipal Police are offering up a class to officers that show them how they can "win with the media" after an officer involved shooting.

Using the events in Ferguson as their case study, attendees of the single-session training course will learn "essential strategies and tactics, skills and techniques that will help you WIN THE MEDIA" in the wake of a officer-involved shooting. And what's more, "you'll have fun doing it!" the class flyer boasts. "There is NO PowerPoint!"

Topics covered may include: "Feeding the Animals" ("animals" being some sort of endearment for protesters or reporters?), "'No Comment' is a comment," "Managing Media Assault and Batter," and "Managing the media when things get ugly (think Ferguson)."

Of course, Ferguson showed if you can't "win the media" you just throw their asses in jail.
