The Death of a Newscast in the Bay Area

A Bay Area insider explains how The Firm’s station in Oakland just killed a newscast.

KTVU has finally completed its destruction of the Noon news. First they cut it from an hour to half an hour. Then they changed the format of the half hour; taking off the top morning anchors that used to do it in facor of a B team and they basically simulcast their streaming product for that half hour which was inferior to the half hour over the air newscast they were broadcasting prior.

And now, starting last week, KTVU no longer airs live news of any kind...prefering to re-air the first half hour of the 8am morning news.

KTVU was one of the first stations in the Bay Area, if not the first, to have a Noon newscast.

Now they have none while all their competitors still have theirs.
