Drive-By Shooting at Sinclair Station takes an Interesting Twist

Just over a week ago, FTVLive told you how a drive-by shooter took aim at a Sinclair station, twice.

Now, it appears we know who is responsible for the shooting and it involves a station Reporter.

According to KGET, KBAK/KBFX news anchor Aaron Perlman has obtained a temporary restraining order against the woman accused of riddling the Bakersfield studio with bullets during back-to-back drive-by attacks.

Court documents reveal that Perlman stated he was the intended target of the gunfire, which saw a suspect open fire on the station's Westwind Drive building twice in four days—unloading 10 rounds into a conference room and office area during the first incident, and returning for a second round of shooting shortly after. Perlman noted in his application that he does not know the suspect, 46-year-old Thomashana Renee Zeigler, and that the two have never met, with the emergency protective order application indicating the shootings were carried out in an attempt to gain his attention.

Bakersfield police arrested Zeigler during a traffic stop as she was reportedly traveling toward the station, recovering a loaded .40-caliber handgun and an extra magazine that authorities say likely prevented a third shooting. Zeigler now faces felony charges including shooting at an inhabited dwelling and vandalism, along with misdemeanor firearm counts, and is being held without bail.
