Gone in The A-T-L

Just months after making a splashy return to the Atlanta television market, veteran meteorologist Dagmar Midcap is officially off the air and stripped from the station’s digital roster.

Midcap, who joined CBS Atlanta (WUPA) in late 2025 as part of the station’s scratch-built newsroom launch, quietly vanished from broadcasts back in May. Her bio has now been scrubbed from the station's website, signaling a permanent end to what was billed as a high-profile homecoming.

Neither Midcap nor CBS Atlanta News Director Shawn Holder have commented on the departure.

Midcap’s exit marks another twist in a turbulent broadcasting landscape in Atlanta. She originally left the market over 15 years ago following a personal tragedy, subsequently spending years anchoring and forecasting on the West Coast, including stints in San Diego. Her late-2025 recruitment was viewed as a major coup for WUPA as the station rushed to stand up an in-house news operation after losing its longtime CBS affiliation to a rival station.

With her sudden disappearance from the evening broadcasts, management is once again left scrambling to stabilize its weather team as the station continues to find its footing in the highly competitive Atlanta news race.
