Reporter Harassed While Live
/WTOC (Savannah) Sports Director Lyndsey Gough was assigned to cover the Georgia Bulldogs college football game.
She posted a video of her trying to do her job and getting harassed by fans while doing so. Here are the clips she posted with our take below that.
After the first guy touched me I started rolling... this isn't even all of it. So uncomfortable. Can we please respect people's space pic.twitter.com/1r0VQVoBoq

OK, first, I’m not sure the concourse of a sold-out football stadium, with many fans that have been drinking for hours, is a good spot to go live.
Second, since the camera never moves, I’m going to assume that Gough was doing this live shot solo with no Photographer and no help.
If that’s the case, shame on station management for putting a Reporter in this situation.
I’m sure that whether it was a male or female Reporter in this situation, you were going to have problems with crowd control.
Give the crews the support staff needed in this situation. I can assure you that the few bucks you spend will be a lot less than what your station will pay in a lawsuit when things really go south.
Lyndsey Gough should not have to endure this harassment and nor should any Journalist, male or female.
Teach your staff the best locations for going live, do not send them out alone, and make sure that safety is the top priority.
Tell the bean counters, you’ll try and save a few bucks in other areas. Sending a one-man-band to a packed college football is unacceptable.
It’s really not that hard to do the right thing.
