Newsrooms Cheer as Boris is Bounced
/It is not often that you see a newsroom start cheering when a colleague loses their job, but that is exactly what happened in Sinclair newsrooms around the country yesterday.
Sources tell FTVLive that applause broke out at Sinclair owned KOMO in Seattle after word came down that the company was dropping Boris Epshteyn and commentaries from the newscasts.
FTVLive was flooded with emails from people working at Sinclair stations happy to tell us the news that as of the end of the week, Epshteyn’s “must-run” segments would be dropped from the newscasts.
FTVLive was the FIRST to show you the internal memo from Sinclair VP of News Scott Livingston:

Subject: Local Investigative Commitment
Hi Everyone,
One of our goals in 2020 is to produce more distinctive and impactful local stories. We are having success in the markets where we’re producing local investigative content. Sinclair’s local investigative news teams have produced marquee coverage and garnered critical praise for stories like the award-winning Project Baltimore, which unveiled systemic issues with the local school systems, and Project Seattle that explored the impact of homelessness and drug addiction plaguing their community. Our local investigative commitment has garnered nationwide accolades marked by numerous national and regional Edward R. Murrow and Emmy Awards.
Our local investigative units are invaluable to the communities we serve. The positive feedback and our ratings improvement echoes the public’s increasing desire for in-depth, watchdog accountability stories that impact local communities. We have to shine a light on our value proposition every quarter hour, in every newscast. Therefore we will be expanding our local investigative journalism footprint in our daily newscasts. We are excited to dedicate more time in our newscasts to report on critical and relevant issues.
To allot additional airtime for this storytelling, we will be ending the commentary segments this Friday, December 13th featuring Ameshia Cross and Boris Epshteyn. I want to thank Boris and Ameshia for sharing their passion and purpose with our audiences.
We want to continue to be a leader in local news and strengthen our commitment to investing in local communities.
Thanks,
Scott
Sinclair is not kicking Epshteyn to the curb, the company says that he will stay on in a “sales job.”
The guy that was trying to sell Donald Trump’s talking points for years, will not be selling air time for Sinclair. FTVLive FIRST told you that Sinclair was paying Epshteyn north of $300,000 a year to puke up Trump propaganda.
No word what he will be paid as a member of the sales team.
But, this much we do know, for people working at Sinclair stations and for Producers that had to put his crap in their show, this is one Christmas gift that they will all appreciate.
