Nexstar Continues to Cut People.... Merry Christmas
/FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you that Nexstar has been gassing up the pink slip express and driving it around the country to many of the former Tribune stations.
So far, according to sources, Nexstar has whacked people at KDVR/KGWN (Denver), KFOR (OKC), WXIN/WTTV (Indy), WGHP (Greensboro), WHO (Des Moines) and WHNT (Huntsville).
Sources tell FTVLive that the cuts at the stations have been somewhere between 2 and 12+ people at each of the stations.
The just before Christmas layoffs were not unexpected as in Nextar likes to run their stations lean and felt that many of the former Tribune stations were way too fat.
We also hear that Nexstar is looking at least a couple of the GM’s at the former Tribune stations, and they could soon be out of a job.
In Indianapolis, Reporter Samantha Myers caught the blade, but she says she is still looking forward to working in TV news and thanked viewers for reaching out.
I’m not sure there is ever a good time to be let go, but doing it just before Christmas, just to clear the books for next year seems so cold.
Could this really not have waited another month and after the holidays?
Also, if you have been laid off, It’s not like you can start your job search this week. Who’s hiring people just two weeks before Christmas.
It would be nice in Nexstar and other media companies to look at these people as people and not a line on a budget sheet.
