Sinclair Might Own Fox Austin and Another Chicago Station

As FTVLive FIRST told you would happen, Sinclair cut a deal to sell off some of their stations to Fox Television.

Sinclair has agreed to sell Fox seven stations located in Seattle, Miami, Denver, Cleveland, Sacramento, San Diego and Salt Lake City in an arrangement designed to appease federal regulators reviewing Sinclair’s pending acquisition of Tribune Broadcasting.

This deal could also impact the Austin market.

The Austin Statesman says that as part of the agreement with Fox, Sinclair picked up the option to acquire two Fox-owned stations: Austin’s KTBC Fox 7 and WPWR in Chicago. Sinclair is buying WGN in the Windy City already.

If Sinclair does buy the stations, you can expect that they will consolidate the stations into a single building and merge many jobs into onw.

Layoffs will happen.

Sinclair already owns KEYE in Austin and sources tell FTVLive that staffers there have been ordered per Amy Villereal or John Seabers to not talk to any employees of Fox Austin.

They have been told, 'Told no contact or conversations for any purpose' said our source.
