Sports Guy Takes Over News Anchor's Chair

WGRZ (Buffalo) Sports anchor Adam Benigni (top left) is taking over the news Anchor job from Scott Levin (top right).

FTVLive FIRST told you that Levin was leaving the Tegna station to go and sell cars.

Benigni  was moved from Sports to News during the May book. He was anchoring the 5:30PM newscast and when Levin leaves next week, Benigni will take over the 11PM newscast as well.

The station says that Benigni has been told that he would be taking Levin's place temporarily until a final decision is made.

But it sounds like the job is his to lose.

Benigni confirmed that he remains interested in becoming Levin's permanent replacement if General Manager Jim Toellner and News Director Kate Glover make that call.

"If they are interested, I'm interested in talking about it," said Benigni Thursday. "That hasn't changed."
