Charges Filed Against Salt Lake City Anchor

It's official.

DUI charges have been filed against KUTV Anchor Shauna Lake.

5 days ago, FTVLive told you that Lake was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of DUI. Yesterday the charges were filed.

Lake, who is listed in court documents as Shauna Lake Marshall was charged in Murray Justice Court with DUI, a class B misdemeanor; using license plates registered to another vehicle, a class C misdemeanor; having an open container of alcohol on the highway, a class C misdemeanor; and no current registration, an infraction.

Lake was pulled over by a Utah Highway Patrol trooper about 12:20 a.m. Wednesday on I-215 near 1200 East. The license plate on her vehicle was listed as "canceled" in the trooper's database and was registered to a black Land Rover, not a white one like she was driving, according to a Salt Lake County Jail report.

After the trooper approached the vehicle, he could smell "the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle," according to the report.

The driver had "red, bloodshot eyes," the trooper wrote. After failing a field sobriety test, Lake was arrested, booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and released an hour later.

Lake joined KUTV, Ch. 2, in 1994 and currently anchors its 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. She has not been on the air since her arrest and the Sinclair station isn't commenting.

Of course if the mayor of Salt Lake City was busted for DUI, the station would be demanding a comment and pursuing the story to no end.

But, when the story involves one of their own, the hypocrisy shines through as bright as day.
