Oops!

Thanks to a mistake, the Boston media got to learn what their competition is working on.

A junior employee in the state’s Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development accidentally blasted out the office’s internal list of more than two dozen pending stories from several news organizations. Problem was, instead of emailing the list internally, the staffer sent it to the press by mistake.

There was an inquiry from the Boston Herald about massage parlor licenses, and one from the Boston Globe about homeless data. The Lowell Sun contacted the bureaucracy about housing authority executive directors, according to the list, and WBUR about transgender health services. The list detailed a WBZ-TV reporter accompanying state investigators and the Revere Journal posing some questions.

So how did all that internal information become public?

Paul McMorrow, director of policy and communications at the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development, said the wrong list was pasted into the send box of the email. Simply, he said, “it was a mistake.”

Asked how many reporters the email went out to, McMorrow paused briefly and then replied: “All of them.”

McMorrow, himself a former reporter, said it is no secret that officials keep each other apprised of media inquiries but “it’s just not standard practice to send them to your press distribution list instead of your internal distribution list.”

Twenty-four minutes after the initial e-mail message, the same coordinator and accidental press penpal sent out another blast at 5:28 p.m: “[The employee] would like to recall the message ...”

And then one more at 5:53 p.m.: “Please disregard the previous email – it was sent in error. My sincere apologies.”

Too bad the staffer wasn't using Gmail.

Oh the Irony! Former Denver TV Station is Now a Church

The old studio of KWGN in Denver is now a church.

KWGN left the station back in 2009 when they merged operations with KDVR and the building sat vacant for years.

But now, the old TV station is the Highline Community Church. The old newsroom is part of the  sanctuary.

Let's hope that the church leaders had some sort of exorcism before moving in.

Just saying....

Here's video of the transformation:

Oh Don.....

Seriously Don Lemon, was this done for news value or just shock value?

And do you really need to ask the question, "Does this offend you?"

Really?!

Don Lemon is trying to be the equivalent of the 80's shock jock and his boss Jeff Zucker doesn't seem to care that Lemon is trashing the CNN brand and has become nothing more than a joke in the process.

Shaking my head.

Lester Holt says He Was Blocked Off from BriLie Scandal

Yesterday, Lester Holt anchored NBC Nightly News just like he has been doing for months, but this time it was different.

Holt's name was included into the title of the show and it was his first night anchoring has the now official anchor of the broadcast.

Yesterday, Holt talked about the Brian Williams scandal that helped him land his new job as NBC News Mani Anchor.

But, Holt admits he kept his head down and stayed out of the mix during the whole ordeal.

“The fact of the matter is that I wasn’t being told anything about (Williams),” Holt told the Daily News Monday, breaking his silence about the scandal. “For lack of a better term, there was a ‘firewall’ between me and all that. I accepted that my role was to fill in for six months, and there were never any discussions (with NBC executives) about where or what this all might lead to — so I tried to keep my head down.”

Holt said his biggest source for news about the Williams scandal were reports from sources outside of NBC News. “There were times that I tried not to read anything that was written about this whole situation, so of course I read everything. At some point I didn't know what to believe, but ultimately it kept coming back to keeping my head focused on the broadcast,” he says.

Holt says that he and Brian Williams exchanged some emails during Williams’ suspension, but they spoke last Thursday for the first time since the scandal.

Holt describes the conversation as “personal,” so he declined to give the details, but he did reveal that he and Williams are on solid ground as colleagues.

“It was a conversation that we both had been craving but didn't know how to initiate,” Holt says. “The bottom line is that we expressed our friendship to each other. We acknowledged that while some might see this as awkward, nothing that has transpired was between the two of us. We are friends and the best way to characterize it is that Brian and I are good.”

MSNBC Staff Chanted "Fuck Brian Williams" at Holiday Party

Demoted NBC Anchorman is putting his tail between his legs and headed back to the MSNBC dumping ground.

But, it is doubtful that he will be greeted with open arms.

Page Six says that staffers there haven’t forgotten a scathing report he arrogantly aired on his short-lived “Rock Center” about “corrosive” cable news blowhards at MSNBC, Fox News and CNN.

The two-part September 2012 report was so unpopular at MSNBC that, at a network holiday party shortly after, some over-served staffers even chanted “f uc k Brian Williams.”

“Rock Center” aired a two-parter on cable news’ “partisan ranting” from correspondent Ted Koppel. Williams introduced one segment by describing cable as, per Koppel, “corrosive and does nothing to help compromise in this country.”

Williams stuffily wondered, “Has any of this splashed up against what we do?” Koppel responded: “What works about cable television is it’s cheap and it makes a ton of money. There is nothing cheaper than a bunch of talking heads. The people who hire those talking heads have discovered the more irascible, the more partisan, the nastier they are, the bigger an audience.”

Welcome to MSNBC Brian....sounds like they are really happy you're coming back.

Not.

Washington Anchor Arrested for DUI, Hit and Run

Terry Chick and anchor at Sinclair's KEPR (Pasco, WA) was busted for  driving drunk and crashing into a parked truck in downtown Kennewick.

Police arrested Chick following a traffic stop about 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

Chick, 61, was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run.

KEPR posted on its website and its Facebook page that Chick is currently off the air.

“We are shocked to hear this,” KEPR said. “We are working through our internal process, and we don’t discuss personnel matters outside of our company.”

The Tri-City Herald says A Kennewick officer followed a Mazda driven by Chick after a witness reported seeing the car crash into a truck and leave the scene of the collision, according to court documents.

The Mazda — which had a broken tail light — apparently was swerving on Highway 240.

“I immediately noticed the obvious signs of impairment,” the officer wrote. “(Chick’s) eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slow and slurred.”

Chick told police he was coming from the Branding Iron in downtown Kennewick and drank five beers throughout the night, court documents said. He first denied there was damage to his car, but when confronted with the broken taillight, he told police the damage was old.

The officer then put Chick through several roadside tests to determine if he was drunk.

The station says that Chick is now off the air.

Chicago Station Gets Pranked

Severe weather moved through Chicago yesterday and stations were on the air with the coverage.

WMAQ Weatherman Grant Miller took a call from "Ryan" who was in the back of his truck near a tornado on the ground.

But, it seems old Ryan was just a prankster looking to drop a Howard Stern joke:

Brant Miller vs. Prank Caller.

But, where it was even worse for the Chicago NBC O&O. When Miller through it back to Anchor's Allison Rosati and Rob Stafford, they apparently were not paying attention during "Ryan's" call.

This what they said, “We’re concern—I’m concerned about Ryan back in his truck. Uh, right now, Ryan? Are you near a building that you can get into? He, he, he lost the phone, okay.”

“Ryan said he’s in the back of his truck.”

Ummmm...Rob and Allison, I really don't think Ryan was in a truck and I'm fairly certain his name was not really "Ryan".

Milwaukee Station Talent Under Orders to Tweet More

It seems that WISN News Director Chris Gregg thinks his staff can do a better job on social media.

Gregg sent out a memo telling the staff about a mix bag in the ratings. The numbers are down in the morning, but up in the evening.

But then he told talent they need to be more active on social media. He wants Anchors to, "push to your newscast." Reporters need post photo's from stories they are covering.

Here's a portion of Gregg's memo to the staff:

Just make sure that if it's a murder scene, try not to smile.
