Where is that Story?

When Good Morning America Weather Anchor Ginger Zee got married it was a big story at ABC. The network did stories on the wedding, her dress and all. World News Tonight Anchor David Muir even mentioned Zee's wedding on his newscast.

Last week, Good Morning America host Lara Spencer finalized her divorce from her husband. Spencer and former CNN Reporter David Haffenreffer called it quits after 15 years of marriage.

But yet, that story never made it on to GMA or World News Tonight.

If you're going to broadcast the on air wedding proposals and show the wedding photos, don't you think it's only fair to report the divorces as well?

Andy Lack's Internal Memo to NBC Staff on Brian Williams

Here is the internal memo that NBC News boss Andy Lack sent out in regards to Brian Williams future with the company:

Andy Lack just sent the following message and release to the NBC News and MSNBC staff. We wanted you to see them as well.

To:       NBC News and MSNBC Colleagues

Fr:        Andy Lack

Today we are announcing that Lester Holt will become the permanent anchor of Nightly News. As you all know, Lester has done outstanding work for NBC News over the last ten years, and he’s performed remarkably well over the last few months under very tough circumstances. Please join me in congratulating him and wishing him great success.

Brian Williams will take on a new role anchoring breaking news for MSNBC. Please take a moment to read the press release below, which includes more details on this decision, Brian’s new role, and the NBCU review.

Deborah, Phil and I thank you for all of your hard work during an extraordinarily challenging period. Now we’re looking forward to writing the next chapter, together.  I’m sure you are too.

 Andy

Here is the press release:

Andrew Lack, Chairman of NBC News and MSNBC, today announced that Lester Holt will be named the permanent anchor of NBC Nightly News.

Holt, 56, has been a television news reporter for thirty-four years. He joined NBC in 2000 and became the full-time anchor of Weekend Nightly News in 2007. He also anchors Dateline and co-anchors Weekend TODAY.

“Lester has done outstanding work for NBC News over the last ten years, and he’s performed remarkably well over the last few months under very tough circumstances,” Lack said. “He’s an exceptional anchor who goes straight to the heart of every story and is always able to find its most direct connection to the everyday lives of our audience.  In many ways, television news stands at a crossroads, and Lester is the perfect person to meet the moment.”

Lester Holt said, "This is an enormous honor. The respect and admiration I have for the Nightly News team has only grown deeper over the last several months that we've been together.  Day-in and day-out under an uncomfortable spotlight they have produced world-class journalism.  I’m very proud and grateful to be part of such an unflappable and dedicated team of professionals as we move forward together."

Lack and Steve Burke, CEO of NBCU, have decided that Williams will not be the anchor of Nightly News. Williams, who was an anchor at MSNBC from 1996 to 2004, will now join MSNBC as anchor of breaking news and special reports. He will work with Mark Lukasiewicz, SVP of Special Reports for NBCU News Group, who will help lead a team to strengthen MSNBC’s daytime coverage by further leveraging NBC News’ expertise in breaking news. In addition, Williams will serve as a breaking news anchor for NBC News live special reports when Holt is not available. He will begin the new role in mid-August.

NBCUniversal conducted a review of Brian Williams’ significant reporting in the field and commentary related to that reporting on NBC News platforms and in other public appearances over a period of more than ten years. The review was overseen by Kim Harris, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of NBCUniversal, who previously served as Deputy White House Counsel and as Senior Counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice. It was conducted by Richard Esposito, who leads the investigative unit at NBC News.

The extensive review found that Williams made a number of inaccurate statements about his own role and experiences covering events in the field. The statements in question did not for the most part occur on NBC News platforms or in the immediate aftermath of the news events, but rather on late-night programs and during public appearances, usually years after the news events in question.

Lack said, “Brian now has the chance to earn back everyone’s trust. His excellent work over twenty-two years at NBC News has earned him that opportunity.”

Mr. Burke said, “First of all, I want to thank Lester Holt.  Lester stepped into the anchor chair in a trying time and has really come through for us. We are lucky to have him and I know he will continue to do great things at NBC News for years to come.”

Burke continued, “As you would imagine this was a difficult decision. Brian Williams has been with NBC News for a very long time and he has covered countless news events with honor and skill.  As I said in February, we believe in second chances, and I am hopeful that this new beginning will be good for Brian and the organization.  This matter has been extensively analyzed and deliberated on by NBC.  We are moving forward.”

On his return to NBC, Williams said:  “I’m sorry. I said things that weren’t true. I let down my NBC colleagues and our viewers, and I’m determined to earn back their trust. I will greatly miss working with the team on Nightly News, but I know the broadcast will be in excellent hands with Lester Holt as anchor.  I will support him 100% as he has always supported me.  I am grateful for the chance to return to covering the news. My new role will allow me to focus on important issues and events in our country and around the world, and I look forward to it.”

Note: An interview with Brian Williams, conducted over the last two days in New York by Matt Lauer, will air on TODAY on Friday morning and on NBC Nightly News on Friday evening.

Reward For NBC Info?

The editors at JEZEBEL are offering a reward for anyone that can provide information on how much NBC paid to get the Rachel Dolezal interviews. NBC says they didn't even pay for travel expenses.

Of course, that would almost be a first in the cut-throat business of morning news; especially with Today and GMA jockeying for 1st place.

So, if you have the info, there's $1,000 in it for you.

As an intern making nothing, I'm already on the phone.

Brian Williams to Stay at NBC but Not Nightly News

NBC is expected to announce later Today that they are keeping lying Anchorman Brian Williams.

Williams will stay at the Peacock, but will lose his job as Anchor of NBC Nightly News. The network will announce that in his new role, Williams will primarily work for the network's struggling cable news channel MSNBC.

Key NBC staffers have been told this week of the network's decision to keep BriLie on the payroll.

Williams is expected to be used in a breaking-news capacity at MSNBC as the network tries to figure out how else he will be at the network.

Not everyone is happy with the move. "It's a cop out," says one NBC staffer to FTVLive, "In the end they just didn't have the guts to do the right thing, which was fire him," the staffer added.

NBC will do the right thing by making Lester Holt the permanent Anchor of NBC Nightly News. Holt has been filing in for Williams the past 4 months during his suspension.

So Brian Williams will go from the No. 1 network newscast to an also ran cable news station.

How the mighty have fallen.

Matt Lauer's Q-Score Moves up

All of Brian Williams' troubles have been good news for Today Show Anchor Matt Lauer.

Until Williams was caught lying, Lauer had been the biggest target for NBC critics. BriWi became the target and it moved Lauer away from the heat and his Q-score has been going up.

Lauer's overall Q-score has moved from an 8 to 10. With women over 18, Lauer's Q has gone from an 8 to 12. Which puts him on par with ABC's George Stephanopoulos.

The Q-score shows ikeability that is used by advertisers and media companies to vet celebrities for commercial and programming opportunities.

Lauer's Q tanked in 2012, when many felt he was responsible for getting Ann Curry booted from the Today Show.

But now Lauer's Q-score is heading north and so are the Today Show's ratings. He might want to send a "thank you" note over to Brian Williams at MSNBC when he returns.

Trump to Stephanopoulos: You Shouldn't be Asking About Hillary

Donald Trump sat down ABC News's George Stephanopoulos and when the topic turned to Hillary, Trump pounced.

Stephanopoulos has been under fire for his $75,000 donations to the Clinton foundation. ABC pulled Stephanopoulos from a debate after the donation was disclosed. But, the ABC Anchorman is still covering politics and Trump made the point that maybe Stephanopoulos should not be asking questions about Hillary.

It pains us to say this, but Trump is right and makes a good point.

Let's go to the video:

Donald Trump reminds Stephanopoulos about his obvious conflict of interest when asking questions about Hillary Clinton.

Megyn Kelly Takes Don Lemon's Sloppy Dog Seconds

The other day, FTVLive called out CNN and Anchor Don Lemon for bringing on Dog the Bounty Hunter to talk about the NY prison escapees.

The idea that you are going to bring on a reality show star as an "expert" was a joke.

Well, now Fox News and Megyn Kelly did the exact same thing. Kelly stooped to Don Lemon's level and brought Dog on the show to talk about the escaped killers.

Dog the Bounty Hunter is a joke that looks for drunk drivers that skip bail and he does it on a freaking island. He has about as much of a clue to catching these killers as other reality star Kim Kardashian.

We expect Don Lemon to do something like this. We thought Megyn Kelly was well above this level.

Maybe not.

We Call Bullshit...

Eight days ago, FTVLive told you that KFSM Managing Editor Larry Henry admitted in court that he violated a judge's order by tweeting the verdict of a recent murder trial from the courtroom.

Circuit Judge Brad Karren found Henry in contempt of court for tweeting "BREAKING Zachary Holly guilty of capital murder in 6-year-old Jersey Bridgeman's death" moments after the verdict was read.

As we reported, the bailiff said he and the judge discussed possible sentences for a guilty plea and Karren came up with the idea of a news story in lieu of a fine or jail time.

"He thought a story could promote awareness of child safety and it was a good way to handle it," Monjure said. Henry has 30 days to air the story.

FTVLive wrote at the time, "Personally, I would not let the judge dictate what news stories my station does or does not air. I say let Henry face the penalty on his own terms and not get the station involved. I do not feel the station should cave to the judge's order. It's a slippery slope that the station should not head down."

A local Arkansas paper got around to the story this week (a little late) and in an editorial basically said the exact same thing that FTVLive said more than a week ago.

KFSM News Director Bill Cummings told TVSpy that, “KSFM did not, nor would we ever, relinquish control over our content or editorial process,” said Cummings. “In this case we did acknowledge that Mr. Henry unintentionally violated Judge Karren’s rules regarding tweeting in his courtroom. In additional to apologizing to the court, we deemed it appropriate to take a positive step and offer to do a story on children’s advocacy — a topic we have covered many times on 5NEWS.”

First of all, that means Cummings is calling the court bailiff a liar. Second of all we call bullshit on his statement.

You're telling me, you're Reporter is being held in contempt of court and you just offer up to do a story on children’s advocacy?

It is bad enough that a judge is assigning stories for a news station, but it might be even worse if the news station is handing out sentences in court.

This does not pass the smell test what-so-ever.

By the way, we would also love to see MANY children’s advocacy stories the station did in the past.

Chicago Radio Jock Suspended for Tweet about TV Weather Anchor

WSCR Sports Radio host Dan Bernstein is in hot water for tweeting an offensive message about a female television personality.

This is the second time in months.

Bernstein was pulled from his afternoon show Wednesday and ordered him to delete a tweet he posted Monday night about Cheryl Scott (pictured), the meteorologist at WLS in Chicago.

After the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup, Bernstein tweeted: “And the real award for this year’s close connection to the @NHLBlackhawks is @CherylScottWX!!”

Rumors were going around that the Weather Anchor had been  romantically linked to one or more Blackhawks players, something that she denies.

Robert Feder says that on Tuesday, the radio station received calls from WLS management and Scott’s agent, attorney Andrew Stroth. Both objected strongly to the tone and inference of Bernstein’s tweet, according to sources familiar with the conversations.

By Wednesday, Bernstein had been slapped with a one-day suspension and was ordered to remove the message.

Back in March, Bernstein caught heat for making social media comments about CSN Chicago sports anchor/reporter Aiyana Cristal's boobs.

I think we all know who the real boob is here.

O-Town Station Names New GM

Struggling Orlando station WKMG has named WTKR (Norfolk) GM Jeff Hoffman as the station's new General Manager.

"Jeff has been a passionate and successful broadcaster for more than 30 years," Graham Media group boss Emily Barr said in a statement. "He has held a variety of demanding roles at stations across the country, starting as a sports producer and moving through news departments to progressively larger station and general manager positions. I am delighted to welcome him to our station group."

Hoffman succeeds Skip Valet, who was bounced earlier this month. Valet had been GM since 2009. He said in a statement: "WKMG is becoming more competitive, but not fast enough. So, with regret, it's time for me to step aside and let someone else lead the team. "

The Graham Media Group credited Hoffman with "transforming WTKR into a winning operation and creating the market's fastest growing duopoly."

Hoffman also has worked as vice president and general manager at WAFF, the NBC affiliate in Huntsville, Ala.; station manager at WAVE, the NBC affiliate in Louisville, Ky.; and station manager at WIS, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, S.C.

He starts at the station on June 29th.

Indy Station to Expand Morning Newscast....again

WISH in Indianapolis has announced that it is expanding its morning newscast by a half-hour.

The station says it will start the morning news at 4am and go till 9am, perviosuly the show started at 4:30am.

The Indianapolis Business Journal says that the move will mark the second time WISH has expanded its local news coverage this year.

Beginning Jan. 1, the station expanded daily newscasts by four hours a day, including the addition of two hours of morning news.

The extra news has been used to fill a programming void after WISH lost its 58-year-old affiliation with CBS-TV at the beginning of the year.

The latest expansion comes under the direction of Elbert Tucker, who was hired by WISH in April to replace outgoing news director Steve Bray.

Rochester Station Gives Send Off to Competing Anchor

When a longtime Anchor signs off from a station, you expect the obligatory goodbye at the end of the newscast.

And that is exactly what happened in Rochester, NY, when longtime WROC Anchor Kevin Doran signed off.

But, one of the goodbyes at the end of the newscast was on competing station WHAM. It's not everyday that the Anchors across the street take time out of the newscast to say goodbye to their competition.

Then again, maybe they were just happy to have him leave.

Let's go to the video:

Ginny Ryan and all of us at 13-WHAM send best wishes to Kevin Doran on his last day at WROC-TV!

Wow! Talk About the Pot talking to the Kettle

The media is falling all over themselves to try and get Donald Trump to appear on their air. Trump who no one took seriously is now being wooed by TV networks to come on and talk about his "presidential" run.

Of course, Trump who never met a camera he didn't like, is all too happy to oblige and lives to be the center of attention.

Trump will appear on MSNBC's Morning Joe tomorrow and in a teaser the network sent out, Trump says that Clinton is his favorite most recent President.

But, Trump adds that the women like Monica Lewinsky and Paula Jones were his downfall. Donald Trump is calling out Bill Clinton for chasing trashy women. Read that last line again.

Here's the video:

Which recent president is Trump’s favorite? The answer may surprise you. Watch the clip and tune in tomorrow for his interview.
