O-Town Station Names New GM

Struggling Orlando station WKMG has named WTKR (Norfolk) GM Jeff Hoffman as the station's new General Manager.

"Jeff has been a passionate and successful broadcaster for more than 30 years," Graham Media group boss Emily Barr said in a statement. "He has held a variety of demanding roles at stations across the country, starting as a sports producer and moving through news departments to progressively larger station and general manager positions. I am delighted to welcome him to our station group."

Hoffman succeeds Skip Valet, who was bounced earlier this month. Valet had been GM since 2009. He said in a statement: "WKMG is becoming more competitive, but not fast enough. So, with regret, it's time for me to step aside and let someone else lead the team. "

The Graham Media Group credited Hoffman with "transforming WTKR into a winning operation and creating the market's fastest growing duopoly."

Hoffman also has worked as vice president and general manager at WAFF, the NBC affiliate in Huntsville, Ala.; station manager at WAVE, the NBC affiliate in Louisville, Ky.; and station manager at WIS, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, S.C.

He starts at the station on June 29th.
