Don Who?

CNN had goofball Don Lemon out in the "Blizzard Mobile" (really that is what they called their vehicle) covering the storm and poor Don could not remember his own name.

As stupid as forgetting your own name is, it's not nearly as stupid as the "Blizzard Mobile."

Showoff Almost Crashes into Live Shot

A WNBC crew has a close-call with an idiot trying to showoff for the camera.

Reporter Stacey Bell and her Photographer were doing a live shot a snowy intersection when a driver trying to "act cool" almost plowed into the news crew during the live hit:

Cutting Out the Media

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has figured out a way to not have to deal with the media.

He's starting his own state-run taxpayer-funded news outlet.

Talk about going head first down the slippery slope.

Pence is planning in late February launch of "Just IN," a website and news outlet that will feature stories and news releases written by state press secretaries and is being overseen by a former Indianapolis Star reporter, Bill McCleery.

The news service will make pre-written news stories available to Indiana media, as well as sometimes break news about his administration, according to documents obtained by The Indianapolis Star.

Needless to say, most members of the media think this is an awful idea and if you think it is only and Indiana media problem, consider this.

Pence is considering a run for the White House.

If he runs, we're guessing he will not be getting many votes from the people in the press.

LA Anchor Shake Up

Fox owned KTTV replaced its main actors Christine Devine and Jeff Michael on its low rated 5PM "Studio 11." Michael and Devine will continue on the 10PM news only.

Devine reached out to one of her biggest fans on Twitter give him the news:

Lauren Sivan (see how she works) and Bob DeCastro will now anchor the 5PM broadcast.

Sources say the station is exploring the replacing newscasts with "Chasing L.A.," a TMZ type tabloid show.

Fox has already done that at WOR with "Chasing New Jersey," now it is being talked about in LA. The program features various segments and stories focusing on headlines and issues affecting the market featuring reports by a group of correspondents known as "chasers".

Clueless

Yesterday, FTVLive told you that former Today Show Anchors Bryant Gumble and Katie Couric have a Super Bowl commercial for BMW that pokes fun at their lack of knowledge of new technology.

Of course, as Yahoo's Global News Anchor, we're not sure how much technology company Yahoo appreciates the ad that makes their main face look like a noob.

Here's the full ad:

Report: ABC Backtracked on Firing Rosie Perez from The View

Variety and other lesser known websites reported that Rosie Perez had left ABC's The View and would not be returning.

FTVLive checked with our sources and they said that the story was not true and Perez would be returning to the show, which indeed is the case.

Now, Variety is trying to say that ABC had planned on firing Perez and they backtracked on the plan after the story was leaked to the magazine.

Variety writes, "At the time, the network wasn’t ready to announce the co-host’s departure. According to a source familiar with ABC execs’ thinking, fear of “an Ann Curry situation” — a reference to NBC’s botched firing of the “Today” anchor in 2012 — led executives to reverse course and keep Perez on the network’s 11 a.m. talk show for now."

Senior ABC executives strongly deny that there was ever a plan to oust Perez.

“These unnamed sources are wrong,” said an ABC spokesperson. “As was always the plan, the amazingly talented Rosie Perez took time off to rehearse for her Broadway play. We’re eagerly looking forward to having her back on February 3rd. Any speculation to the contrary is simply untrue.”

Looks like someone is trying to make an excuse for a wrong story.

Savannah Guthrie Lands President and New Contract

NBC's Savannah Guthrie is having a good 2015 so far.

Guthrie has landed the President for his annual Super Bowl sit down interview and she has also landed a contract extension.

Guthrie has inked a 3 year extension to stay on as the Today Show co-anchor a job she took over in June 2012.

Guthrie walked in when Ann Curry was pushed out. Guthrie said that she came in quietly and kept her head down when she was named Curry's replacement.

"It required a delicate touch," Guthrie told the LA Times. "My own approach was not to go in there with guns blazing, saying, 'Pay attention to me.' It called for someone to come in, put their head down and do the work. I tried to be a credit to the show and not another problem."

Now, Guthrie also gets to interview President Obama before this year's Super Bowl. It has been custom of the President to sit down with a network news Anchor from the network that is broadcasting the game.

Guthrie got the nod and will talk to the President before kickoff.

Man Shoots Himself Outside Fox News Studios (Updated)

A man saying that Fox News ruined his life, went to the network's studios and shot himself in the chest.

The NY Post says that the man, who was not identified, was found just before 9 a.m. sitting slumped outside of the building on Sixth Avenue and West 47th Street, cops and witnesses said.

Police at the scene said that the man apparently shot himself with a small-caliber pistol, which was found on the ground next to him. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition, cops said.

Prior to the shooting, the man was heard protesting Fox News, saying that the news channel ruined his life, a source said.

Security guards asked the man to leave and when they turned around to walk back inside, they heard a gunshot, the source said.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, had what appeared to be a suicide note in his pocket, the source added.

Update: The man that shot himself has died, he was a former employee of a Fox station in Texas.

Police say the man was Phillip Perea, 41 years old, of Irving, Texas.

Perea shot himself once in the chest and had no ties to Fox News. Perea had also been handing out fliers, which criticized his employer for having “ended my career,” moments before he shot himself.
