The 8 Best and Worst People in TV News 2014 - No. 4

We are clearly into the top 5 and inching closer to No. 1 on our list of the best and Worst people in TV news in 2014.

The Best:

Robin Roberts - ABC News

Robin Roberts has been known as a very nice person in a business full of idiots for a longtime. But, after he fight with  myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) that required a bone marrow transplant, Roberts has become one of the most positive people you will ever meet.

They say looking death in the face changes a person and you can see that with Roberts. Although she was always considered one of the "good people" in this industry, she has taken to a new level after her health scare.

There is no one that wakes up with a bigger smile on their face on Monday mornings than Robin Roberts.

The Worst:

Charlo Green - Weedville

Green became infamous in 2014 while working in the tiny market of Anchorage, Alaska. Green made headlines when she said live on air "Fuck it...I quit."

This was after she did a pro pot story and admitted that she was in fact the leader of a group that was trying to get weed legalized in Alaska.

So, she not only quit with a profanity, but she preceded the quitting with a biased report for her own cause. That alone should make it so she never lands a job in TV news again.

Log on next hour to see who comes in at No. 3 on the list.

The 8 Best and Worst People in TV News in 2014 - No. 5

We have made it to No. 5 on the list of the best and worst people in TV news in 2014 and you might be shocked to find someone from CNN on the best side.

The Best:

Erin Burnett - CNN

There is no question there are not many things about CNN that could be on anyone's best list. Former CNN staffers are deeply sadden by how the once great cable news station has become nothing more than a laughing stock that does less and less news.

But one bright spot is Erin Burnett and her show "OutFront." Burnett is a good interviewer that asks the same questions that viewers are thinking about. Her style is very conversational and she rarely drones on too long on any one topic.

Burnett show hit its stride in 2014 and she does not get caught up in the hype like many of the others at CNN. Her interviews are on point and fair no matter who she is talking to.

Let's be honest CNN is not very good these days, but the one hour that Erin Burnett is one, it's almost like they are a real cable news station once again.

The Worst:

Dr. Nancy Snyderman - NBC

Dr. Nancy Snyderman comes in at the No. 5 spot on the worst list. Everyone remembers how Synderman broke her voluntary ebola quarantine to make a run to a local restaurant. Many in the area felt that Synderman put their lives in danger and for a Doctor that is unacceptable.

But, what made it worse was Synderman's lack of remorse for her actions. Her apology was one of the lamest apologies of the year and you could tell that her giant ego did not even want to say the words "I'm sorry", but she had to do it to keep her job.

NBC should have cuts ties with Snderman when they had the chance.

Comeback next hour as we move closer and closer to the top of the list.

The 8 Best and Worst People in TV News in 2014 - No. 6

We now move to No. 6 on our list of the best and worst in TV news for 2014.

The Best:

Greta Van Susteren - Fox News

Greta has been doing her "On the Record Show" at Fox News for a dozen years and takes on a number of subjects that other shows will not touch. Unlike other shows, Van Susteren will stay with a story until there is a conclusion.

She's not afraid to dig in her heels and tackle issues that others are too scared to touch. And although Van Susteren is on the right leaning Fox News, she is tough and fair with her interviews with people on both sides of the aisle.

And in the end, tough and fair are the best description a journalist could ask for.

The Worst:

Jim Cantore - The Weather Channel

Jim Cantore, or as FTVLive likes to call him, "The American Bald Ego" thinks a lot of himself. In a business full of egos, Cantore's ranks as one of the biggest and that was never more evident when DirecTV pulled Cantore's Weather Channel off the bird.

Cantore went ballistic, "I feel it's just irresponsible for DIRECTV to drop The Weather Channel and deny their viewers access to critical and potentially life-saving information in times of severe weather. I think it’s a dangerous gamble to put lives at risk for a penny," Cantore wrote.

He then added in bold letters "Nobody can do weather like we do. Nobody."

But yet when the bad weather hits it is just a live shot of Cantore standing in a spot to make the weather look worse than it is and yelling into the mic. Sorry Jim, but any fresh out of college Reporter can do that as well.

Maybe you should go sell some more wiper blades like you do in your latest commercial. And yet the Weather Channel lets you shill product.

So nobody can do weather like you and no one can sell wiper blades like you either.

Just saying....

Check back next hour to see No. 5 on the best and worst list.

The 8 Best and Worst people in TV News - No. 7

Time to see who comes in at No. 7 on our list of the best and worst people in TV news for 2014.

The Best:

Kristine Johnson - Anchor WCBS

WCBS Anchor Kristine Johnson comes it at No. 7 on our list. Johnson not only anchors the main newscasts in the number 1 market, but in between anchoring and being a Mom, she also took on the New York City Marathon for a good cause.

Johnson squeezed training into her busy schedule and then ran the race. Although it did not go as she planned, she was determined to finish what she started and that determination helped land her on FTVLive's best list.

The Worst:

AJ Clemente - Bartender

Wasn't he taking the summer off and then going to land a job via is agent at ESPN or some other top network by the start of the Fall?

Here we are in Winter and damn near a new year and we haven't heard a thing.

His agent must still be sifting through multiple offers.

Check back next hour to see who comes in at No. 6 on our list.

The 8 Best and Worst People in TV News in 2014 - No. 8

Time for No. 8 on our list of the best and worst people in TV news in 2014.

The Best:

Eileen Park - WNCN - Raleigh

Park is the morning Anchor at WNCN in Raleigh and although she gets up at an ungodly hour each morning to do the news, she often has a smile on her face.

But just how did an Anchor in a midsize market end up on the best list?

You just need to read her Twitter bio to see why.

"Dog lover and golf enthusiast" will always land you on the good list at FTVLive.

Just saying....

The Worst:

Amy Yensi and Matt Pieper - News 12 the Bronx

First on our list for the worst is a twofer, News 12 Anchors Amy Yensi and Matt Pieper were caught on an open mic talking about school crossing guards in certain areas, when they made the following comments on air:

Pieper: And Dave wants you to also mention that parents do their fucking jobs and walk their little kids to school on their own and not rely on everyone else kind of like people rely on government assistance for their entire lives. And bye Felicia. I actually added the part about government assistance but it’s true. I mean, how old are these kids?

Yensi: I think I qualify for government assistance (laughs)

Pieper: Just check that box, girl

Yensi: #EBT.

FTVLive is Alone on EXCLUSIVE Island

One week ago, on December 23rd, FTVLive reported FIRST and EXCLUSIVELY that Alisyn Camerota will be replacing Kate Bolduan early in the new year on CNN's New Day.

Camerota has been filing in on New Day since Bolduan left on maternity leave and she is now getting the job full time.

In Early 2015, the show will use Cuomo, Camerota and news reader Michaela Pereira as the main Anchors of New Day. The decision has been made and CNN was expected to announce the change just after the New Year.

As for Bolduan? Sources tell FTVLive that it is likely that she will be given her own show later in the day, but the show and the time slot are still being decided.

Since FTVLive FIRST reported the story, several media critics and websites have been doing everything they can to confirm FTVLive's story. But, none of them have been able to do it.

So, FTVLive sits out on an island with our exclusive story and when what we reported happens (and it will happen) everyone will rush to report a story that all of you saw on FTVLive weeks ago.

Stay tuned....

Seattle Anchor Leaving The Business

KIRO Anchor Angela Russell says you can stick a fork in her....she's done.

After 5+ years anchoring the news at KIRO she is ready to move on to the next chapter in her life, a chapter that she will be writing as a writer.

This is what she posted to her fans on her Facebook page:

BREAKING “Personal” NEWS!

When I was a rookie reporter in Mobile, Alabama, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to work in Seattle, Washington; especially as the evening anchor! The experiences at KIRO 7 the last 5 ½ years have been surprising, amazing, and life changing. Now, I am ready to move on to my next adventure! At the end of the year, I will step away from TV News to pursue my passion for writing. It will also give me the opportunity to spend more time with my two young daughters. I am so grateful for the opportunities that I have been afforded at KIRO 7. I will miss my co-workers and the experience of connecting with many of you. Stay tuned! You may see me pop up on KIRO 7 for future projects. Also, I will stay in touch on social platforms and hopefully make some big “behind the scenes” moves in the years to come. Thank you so much for allowing me into your homes!

Like We Said....

Back on November 25th, FTVLive that Heather Moore was going to replace Carey Pena at KTVK in Phoenix.

Pena left the station after the two sides could not agree on a new contract.

At the time FTVLive wrote: The primary seat isn't even cold at KTVK and sources say KPHO investigative reporter Heather Moore is likely taking over. She used to work at 3TV but was canned. She left for San Diego and then came back to Phoenix at CBS 5. Moore is reportedly Meredith duopoly GM Ed Munson's favorite.

Well we hate to say we told you so...but check out this Tweet from KTVK Anchor Brandon Lee:

Protestors Threaten to Set LA News Photographer on Fire

A protest in South LA got out of hand and most of the anchor was pointed right at the media.

The protestors gathered at the site where Ezell Ford, a 25-year-old man who was described by family members as mentally ill, was killed by two LAPD officers on Aug. 11.

What began as a peaceful remembrance alongside a make-shift memorial for Ford later turned confrontational when some of the demonstrators threatened members of the media covering the vigil.

One of the protesters shoved a lighter in the face of a KTLA photographer and threatened to set him on fire if he didn’t stop videotaping the vigil.

Here is KTLA's report on the "peaceful" protest that was anything but:

H/T KTLA

Is this TV News or the SyFy Channel?

Is this TV News or the SyFy Channel?

KGUN (Tucson) did a story on how not every thing you read on the Internet is true....shocking I know.

But the station's story used actors and re-enactments (without labeling as such) and what was a "news story" looked more like something you would see on the SyFy channel.

The story was well shot and edited, but did it really belong in a TV newscast?

We'll post the story after the jump and let you be the judge:

Top 8 Social Media Fails - No. 1

Well folks we have made it to number 1 on our list of Top 8 social media fails in TV news in 2014.

You have to figure the top fail will somehow involve the state of FloriDUH and it does. We head down to O-Town for No. 1 and WOFL.

Reporter Jackie Orozco posted a selfie to her Instagram account from the scene of a double homicide. Orozco and a station Photographer were all smiles as the police where investigating the 2 murders.

Orozco posted the smiling selfie and wrote, "So why are we smiling in front of a crime scene? Because we work in TV News and it's my Friday!"

As bad as the social media fails in 2014, this seemed to be the worst of the worst.

Congrats Jackie you top the list.

Here is the original story that appeared on FTVLive.

Check back next year as we are sure the social media fails are not going to stop anytime soon.

Top 8 Social Media Fails - No. 2

We head up to the Twin Cities to find the No. 2 top social media fail on our list.

While the entire country was shitting themselves over ebola (thank you TV news for that) KMSP Reporter Bill Keller and the morning crew had big smiles on their faces covering the ebola scare.

Keller sent out this tweet to his followers:

Yep...everyone smile and say ebola!

Here is the original story from FTVLive

Check back next hour to see what story tops the list.

Top 8 Social Media Fails - No. 3

When it comes to Twitter fails, no one did it more than Piers Morgan in 2014.

Once Piers got fired from CNN, he found himself with a lot of time on his hands and Twitter up on his computer.

The Brit showed just how thin his skin was on the social media site.

He went after Larry King

He went off CNN, Jeff Zucker and Anderson Cooper

And then Larry king again

He then picked on English Broadcaster Jeremy Clarkson.

Then back to Larry King

You get the idea. Morgan is so bitter about getting sacked at CNN and he wants each and every one of his Twitter followers to know it.

The best thing Piers could do in 2015, delete his Twitter account and never go back.

Log on next hour to see the No. 2 social media fail on our list.

Top 8 Social Media Fails - No. 4

We head to the Left Coast for the No. 4 social media fail on the list.

And it's a LA News Anchor that encouraged everyone to riot.

Huh?!

After the LA Kings won the Stanley Cup, KTTV Anchor Susan Hirasuna told her fans to head out into the streets and riot.

Although she said she was kidding, after FTVLive posted the story, Hirasuna deleted the Tweet.

Check back next hour for no. 3 on our list of the top 8.
