Fox News Continues to Tease but NOT air Osama bin Laden Shooter Story

While is seems that just about every media outlet has named Rob O'Neil as the Navy SEAL that shot and killed Osama bin Laden, Fox News continues tease their story which will finally be naming the guy that shot bin Laden.....Rob O'Neil.

FNC has been teasing over and over again that they sat down with an exclusive interview with O'Neil and last night on the Kelly File they finally aired that exclusive report.

I'm kidding....

They again teased the story by talking to Peter Doocy the Fox News Reporter that sat down with O'Neil.

Megyn Kelly said that Doocy was here to, FOR THE FIRST TIME to give us the name of the man that shot bin Laden.

The man's name............Rob O'Neil.

Oh.....well that was a bit anti-climatic.

So, why did Fox News interview the Reporter instead of showing the interview?

Because, according to Doocy they are still upstairs editing the story and it is so damn awesome, you will see why it took them longer to edit a sit down interview than it takes to edit a motion picture next week in a two part report.

The cub Reporter came on the Kelly File and talked about the biggest story of his life. But, first Megyn Kelly had to take a few shots at the President before interviewing Doocy:

Here's the interview:

Moonves: Murdoch Will Make another Attempt at Time Warner

CBS President Les Moonves talked with Bloomberg TV's Trish Regan yesterday to discuss CBS's online subscription service and CBSN, its new 24-hour online news channel.

Moonves also talked about Rupert Murdoch trying to buy Time Warner and CBS's interest in CNN.

When asked whether Murdoch might return with a bid for Time Warner, Moonves said: "I’ve learned in a long time in this business you never count Rupert Murdoch out of anything...Perhaps a yes. Once again, Rupert’s clearly one of the smartest men in our business and god knows what he will do next."

On whether he would consider buying a cable channel such as CNN, Moonves said: "I don’t think so. I think CBS News in and of itself is such a world – classy world operation in terms of our news gathering….I don’t think it is at all necessary or would enhance us at all to go and buy a cable news network. This is going to be the cable news network bypass, CBSN."

Caller Drops the N-Word on C-SPAN

Not that anyone was watching, but call-in debate show on C-SPAN turned ugly yesterday when a California caller used the N-word to refer to President Obama.

New York Daily News writes that the caller identified as Anthony from San Diego, warned Republicans to stick to a moderate agenda following their success in the midterm elections during the open phones portion of the program.

"I would just like to say, that the Republicans -- and I'm a Republican -- please do not overreach," the caller began. "I know they're going to overreach but I'm telling you, if you advocate for the repeal of Obamacare and you get too extreme, then Hillary Clinton will be elected President in 2016."

"This is about race," he added.

"The Republicans hate that n----- Obama."

C-SPAN host Steve Scully quickly ended the man's rant and apologized to viewers.

"Okay, I'm gonna stop you there," Scully said in reference to the slur. "We're not gonna use that kind of language."

"You can certainly make your point, but you cross the line when you use language like that," he added. "And so to our viewers and listeners, I want to apologize."

A representative for C-SPAN said that the network does not use a delay for calls into their programs.

Maybe they should rethink that.

Just saying.....

What About Bob?

CBS's 77 year old Bob Schieffer arguably has the most respected Sunday Morning talk show and he thinks he knows why.

"There are no anchor antics, no gotcha questions," Schieffer tells USA Today "We're trying to put a new lead on the important story of the week. When I look at (the show's) clips, starting Sunday afternoon, there will be 20 or 30 places you see that include what had transpired in Face the Nation. And it appears with considerable regularity on papers Monday mornings."

"People tend to over-think these Washington Sunday shows, and Bob doesn't, and we don't," says CBS News President David Rhodes. "His whole presentation, his interviews, the people you can expect to appear are really what that Washington Sunday show audience expects."

The show's mission to grill lawmakers in hopes of breaking news hasn't changed since November 1954, when it debuted with Sen. Joe McCarthy as its first guest. "I hate to go against the storyline, but Sunday shows are more popular than ever," Schieffer says. "There are some things that take more than 140 characters to explain."

Schieffer also shrugs off much of the talk about youth movements and the need to jazz up Sunday talk shows with new props and revamped formats. His unadorned approach has worked, and he has no plans to change. As for reports that Jon Stewart was approached about hosting Meet the Press, Schieffer would only say, "I know he's a smart guy."

"People watch the news not to be entertained, but because there's information they feel they need to know about," he says. "I can't change my age. I'm am the age I am. I wish I was a lot younger."

"I don't feel old, because I stay busy," he says. "I just feel very, very lucky. If my life ended tomorrow, I wouldn't feel short-changed."

Reporter Takes a Licking, Keeps on Ticking

KOIN (Portland) Reporter Tim Becker was assigned to cover the "yes" vote on the marijuana ballot initiative for the state.

While Becker was going live, once "yes" supporter that maybe wasn't waiting for pot to be legalized came up and licked his neck while he was on live.

Let's go to the video:

CBS Launches Streaming News Channel

CBS News digital streaming channel went live Today.

One online news channel is free to viewers right now and is being supported by Advertisers.

Capital New York reports that CBS is stressing that the move is not meant as a way into the 24-hour cable-news channel fray.

“We are not endeavoring to start a cable news channel online,” CBS News president David Rhodes told Capital in an interview. “We are trying to create something that is native for connected devices.”

Those devices include laptops and PCs, smartphones and tablets, and, yes, Internet-connected TVs. The target audience: younger viewers, some of whom may not subscribe to a pay-TV service.

“You go on college campuses today, and there aren’t many television sets, but there are an awful lot of computers and iPads,” CBS C.E.O. Les Moonves said on CNBC Thursday morning, regarding CBSN’s paid sister service CBS All Access.

“We just feel like we need to be there for those audiences, otherwise someone else will be,” Rhodes said.

Just $975 to Go....

FTVLive continues to post updates on what has become a dying 5 year old desktop computer.

Our goal is to purchase the new Apple iMac with retina display. It sounds like an awesome plan until you find out that computer cost $2500.

DISH Network: We're Prepared to Keep CNN off DISH forever

We're guessing that you can count Dish Network Chairman Charlie Ergen as not a fan of Turner or CNN.

Talking about satellite provider's on-going carriage dispute with Turner Broadcasting he said that he is prepared to keep the channels off the service permanently and slamming the performance of channels like CNN.

"When we do take something down, as a company, we're prepared to leave it down forever," he said.

Turner channels like CNN, HLN, Cartoon Network and TruTV went dark on Dish Network on Oct. 21 as a result of the dispute. Dish claims that the absence of the channels hasn't resulted in subscriber cancellations.

Ergen also took a big shot at CNN, saying that CNN "are not quite the product that they used to be."

"You can imagine, CNN down on election night would be a disaster 15 years or 20 years ago, but now there's plenty of other places for people to get news, in fact, a lot of people get news not from TV anymore, they get it from the devices," he said.

Turner boss John Martin shot back that CNN is number 2 in the cable news ratings,  "So we honestly have no idea what Dish was talking about yesterday," he said.

The Weather Channel Internal Memo

The Weather Channel Internal Memo

Weather Channel President David Clark sent out a "confidential" internal memo to the staff at The Weather Channel.

Clark was addressing another round of job cuts made at TWC. Months ago, after a round of cuts happened, FTVLive reported there would be more, the staff was told that was not the case and that there would be no more cuts.

Since then, there has been at least 2 more rounds of layoffs.

In his latest internal memo, he dose not promise that this is the last of the cuts.

The internal memo from Clark is up after the jump:

Alaska Station Runs over 16,000 Political Ads

Now matter how sick you got from watching political ads, thank God you don't live in Alaska.

Anchorage station KTUU ran more than 16,000 political ads and a whopping 13,200 for just the Senate race.

KTUU president and GM Andrew MacLeod says it was a combination of things, including the station's strength in local news.

"The ad load reflects a perfect storm of sorts on major races and issues on the ballot in Alaska," he told Broadcasting and Cable, "coupled with the station's unparalleled audience strength as Alaska's news leader."

"The station's history as a news leader that is constantly improving its products pays off when a political season heats up," he adds.

"Pays off" for the station for sure, but the poor viewers are bombarded with this crap. We're guessing that the GM can't see that over the huge pile of money on his desk.

Fox News Tops Election Night Ratings

The mid-term elections were a landslide for the GOP and Fox News.

Fox News Channel was far and away the dominant news channel last night during coverage of the midterm elections, besting the three broadcast networks – CBS, NBC and ABC – in addition to CNN and MSNBC in BOTH total viewers and the key 25-54 demographic.

According to Nielsen Media Research, FNC averaged 6.6 million viewers – while second place CBS averaged 5.4 million viewers head-to-head at 10PM ET.

This marks the first time during election coverage that FNC triumphed over ALL of the broadcast networks in the 25-54 demographic.

No surprise, FNC also surpassed CNN and MSNBC combined in both total viewers and in the 25-54 demographic.

And to think, they did all with no magic wall.

Buffalo Station Hires New News Director

WIVB in Buffalo has finally found someone that is willing to take the News Director job.

The station has hired Scott Levy from WTAJ in the tiny Johnstown-Altoona, Pa. market.

Levy had been the ND at 104 market station WTAJ for about 18 months, before that he was in market 175 in Elmira, N.Y.

Now he heads to Buffalo and market 52.

If we calculated this right he should be in a top 5 market in time for the 2016 elections.

Stay tuned....
