Reporter's Purse is Stolen While Covering a Story About Robberies

Oh the irony....

KTVU Reporter Heather Holmes was doing a story about daylight robberies in Oakland.

While Holmes and her Photographer were getting ready to go live, when some punk stole her purse from the news car.

Oh! They were also parked in front of the Oakland Police Department.

Might be a good time to Cue up this Alanis Morissette song.

Ax to Swing at Nexstar Station

Sources tell FTVLive that around 10 people are going to get the ax at WJET in Erie, PA.

Word is the Nexstar station is laying off their entire staff of Master Control Operators in August.

The station says that due to "technological improvements" (automation) the 10 people will no longer be needed.

We're guessing that the 10 involved are not really looking at this as an improvement.

Just saying....

Reporter Caught Happy Dancing on Camera

KSTU Fox 13 (Salt Lake City) Reporter Ben Winslow put in a public records request and he found out during the noon newscast that his request was approved.

Winslow broke out into his happy dance and it was caught on camera in the background.

If this is the worst thing that happens behind the KSTU anchor desk, the station will be fine.

After FTVLive Story, LA Anchor Pulls Tweet

Yesterday, FTVLive told you about the questionable Tweet that KTTV Anchor Susan Hirasuna sent out after the LA Kings won the Stanley Cup.

Hirasuna jokingly told fans to head out into the streets and riot.

We wrote "If I was the station's News Director, Hirasuna would be in my office for a brief talk first thing this morning."

We're not sure if that happened or not, but after our story was posted, Hirasuna pulled down the tweet.

Here's a screen shot if you didn't see it:

Ummm....That's the Wrong Guy

Some pervert was arrested in Gainesville, FL and accused confining three women in his home as sex slaves, prostituting them and posting a video of himself raping at least one of the victims.

The man Timothy Deegan faces a number of charges.

When WTEV/WAWS in Jacksonville posted the story on their website, the station included a mugshot of Deegan in their story.

Small problem.

The mugshot the station used was of Tim Deegan the Weatherman across the street at WTLV. The photo was from when the Weather Anchor was arrested on a DUI charge.

ow WTEV made this mistake, we have no idea. But we are guessing the station owes the competing Weatherman a big apology.

Staffers Worry about Vegas Station's Future

FTVLive told you that KSNV station owner Jim Rogers died over the weekend.

Now staffers at the Sin City station are wondering what the future will bring to KSNV?

In December when Rogers told station staffers that he was battling cancer again, he stood up in the newsroom and vowed that “whatever happens, the station will not be put up for sale.”

But staffers are not so sure.

The Las Vegas Review Journal says that employees were shaken by the visit of Sinclair Broadcast Group executives, which included chairman, president and CEO David D. Smith, according to KSNV vice president and general manager Lisa Poe-Howfield.

“They raised a lot of eyebrows,” said a station employee who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

KSNV is the last remaining station from Rogers’ one-time empire of 14 stations. Rogers owned the station since 1979 and turned it into a powerhouse until a decline in recent years amid a high turnover of anchors and other on-air personalities.

If Sinclair were to purchase KSNV, it likely would have major political implications.

“It could go from liberal ownership to conservative,” said a source at the station. “Jim more than leaned left and these guys more than lean right.

Stay tuned....

LA Station Adds 11PM Newscast

KTLA added an 11PM newscast to the lineup last night.

The station did not make any big announcements leading up to yesterday and many viewers were surprised that the 10PM newscast was being followed by another cast at 11.

The new newscast is filling the slot of the recently canceled Arsenio Hall Show?

Cher Calvin and Micah Ohlman are handling the anchor duties for the extra newscast.

FCC Approves Sale of Phoenix Station

The sale of KTVK in Phoenix to Meredith, should be official by the end of the week.

Staffers at the station got this email earlier Today:

"We have been notified by FCC council that the FCC has approved the sale of KTVK and KASW.  We expect the close of the transaction to occur sometime later this week.  We will communicate more information to you as it becomes available.  The formal announcement will be forthcoming."

The Today Show Cleans Up Donald Trump's Mess

Thanks to Donald Trump and his big fat mouth, NBC's Today Show had to issue a correction this morning.

Natalie Morales issued the correction saying:

"We do have a clarification on something you may have heard here on Friday after our report on the controversial Trump sign on Donald Trump’s new Chicago building.

During a live phone interview Trump said of the controversy: “This was started by a third-rate architecture critic from the Chicago Tribune who I thought got fired. He was gone for a long period of time.”

Well, in fact that critic – Pulitzer Prize-winner Blair Kamin – has been with the Chicago Tribune for more than 20 years and also spent the 2013 academic year as a Nieman Fellow at Harvard."

Kamin contacted NBC after Trump's comments and agreed to issue a correction.

Yesterday, Trump raised the ire of knowledgeable golf fans, when he claimed that ratings for NBC's US Open would be down because the course looked awful all browned out. Trump was referring to the renovation of Pinehurst No. 2 in North Carolina. PGA players and other golfers raved at the renovations and said the golf course was excellent.

Trump, who owns a number of golf courses was likely jealous that Pinehurst was getting such high accolades.

It is also likely that ratings for the Open will be lower, but the reason is that Martin Kaymer ran away from the golf tournament. Kaymer won the tournament by 8 shots. Tiger Woods did not play in the event.

Trump needs to shut his mouth...... but unfortunately that will likely not happen.

Oh My Gosh!

Some small earthquakes hit the Oklahoma City area this morning.

KOCO meteorologist Danielle Dozier was doing her forecast around 5:45AM when the second quake hit. There were 3 ground shakers in total and they all registered in the 4.1 range. Tiny by California standards.

Dozier kept totally calm and cool when the ground started shaking.

Ha! No she didn't.....

Let's go to the video:
