FTVLive told you this morning that WUSA Anchor J.C. Hayward is among several people being sued by District Attorney General for their alleged roles in taking more than $3 million from a D.C. public charter school.

Hayward her station she did nothing wrong, and all she did was sign bills in her capacity as chair of the charter school's board, and that she received no money. She also claims that she resigned from the school's board last week.

That didn't stop the station from suspending her.

WUSA General Manager Mark Burdett says Hayward has been relieved of her duties at WUSA pending further investigation.

Ouch!

Dallas Station On The Move

NBC owned KXAS (Dallas) is on the move to a new studio. After 65 years at their current location KXAS has opened a new state-of-the-art (aren't they all?) broadcasting and multimedia news facility locate just south of Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.

"NBCUniversal is committed to connecting with viewers locally," said Ted Harbert, Chairman of NBC Broadcasting, attending the facility's ribbon cutting ceremony. "The technology and collaborative space this building affords provides the perfect environment for NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 to produce valuable news content for our North Texas audience."

The facility contains three high definition control rooms operating four production studios, which are supported by a 4,000 square foot data center containing nearly half a petabyte of online media storage. The media operations center manages over 500 video sources for distribution throughout the building.

Greta Gets Ready for 7PM

Greta Gets Ready for 7PM

Fox News Anchor Greta Van Susteren is leaving her spot on Fox News at 10PM, but she isn't going far.

Van Susteren is moving up 3 hours on the schedule to 7PM.

She's excited about the move, but even she admits, it might take a bit of time for her to adjust. “I’ve been in the business and I’ve been an anchor in cable for now twenty-some years, probably the longest continuous anchor, and the one thing I’ve learned is it really takes about six months to figure out a new show,” Van Susteren told POLITICO.

Greta will kick off her new time slot on Monday, but she isn't the only Fox News Anchor making a move.

Megyn Kelly makes her move from daytime to prime time “The Kelly File” at 9 p.m. Sean Hannity will take over Van Susteren’s 10 p.m.

Van Susteren will stay in DC, but she is getting a new set to go along with her new time slot. Or at least she's hoping she'll have a new set.

DC Anchor Goes From Reporting the News to Being the News

DC Anchor Goes From Reporting the News to Being the News

WUSA Anchor J.C. Hayward has gone from reporting the news, to becoming the news.

The station's noon anchor is among several people being sued by District Attorney General for their alleged roles in taking more than $3 million from a D.C. public charter school.

The Washington City Paper reports that former officials at Options Public Charter School, including the chief executive officer and chief operating officer, are accused of extracting money from the 17-year-old school through extravagant salaries and sweetheart contracts with companies they controlled. The District wants the school to be placed in receivership, with the assets of some defendants—although not Hayward's—frozen.

The scheme allegedly centered around two for-profit companies: Exceptional Education Management Corporation (EEMC), which was owned and incorporated by Options CEO Donna D. Montgomery, and Exceptional Education Services at Options Public Charter School (EES), a company that was incorporated by Hayward, the chair of Options' board of trustees.

Friends,

After working at CBS11 & TXA21 for more than eight years, I have some exciting news. I am moving on to pursue new entrepreneurial projects that I will share with you in the near future.

I enjoyed every minute of the time I spent working with the dedicated, talented and passionate team at CBS11 & TXA21. They are among the best in the business.

Covering sports in Dallas/Fort Worth was my childhood dream and is perhaps one of the greatest jobs in the world. Being a part of your lives every day was an absolute honor. I am living proof that you can do what you love and have fun in the process.

I am as much a fan of our DFW sports teams and personalities today as I was as a 14-year old cheering for them in my living room. We are lucky to work with and root for some of the most talented athletes, coaches and managers you'll ever find.

You can always get in touch with me on every social media platform available.

I hope to return to a TV near you soon. Until then, please keep in touch.

CNN to Drop Piers Morgan

second-amendment-proponents-want-piers-morgan-deported.jpg

Sources tell FTVLive that CNN Boss Jeff Zucker is "actively looking for a replacement for Piers Morgan."

Morgan signed a one year extension to his contract and as time winds down, Zucker is looking for someone to takeover his time slot.

Word is that Zucker really wants Katie Couric in that slot. Couric should be available soon as many expect this is the last year her talk show "Katie" will be on the air.

But, CNN sources tell FTVLive that Zucker is not putting all his eggs in the Couric basket. "He's looking at other people besides Katie," says our source.

Zucker might have learned a lesson when he planned on putting Erin Burnett on CNN's new morning show. It blew up in his face, when Burnett balked at going to mornings.

Word is that CNN could offer Morgan another role at the network, most likely something outside of prime time and likely in the late night hours.

Morgan, his agent and CNN have been working on his new role or his exit strategy from the network.

One group that will likely be happy that CNN is pulling the plug on Morgan in prime time... the NRA.

Morgan has been very critical of the gun laws in the United States for years and has made it one of his main topics on his show.

Stay tuned...

Reporter Finds that Drinking and Tweeting Don't Mix

Reporter Finds that Drinking and Tweeting Don't Mix

Tom Lyden, a Reporter with Fox affiliate KMSP in Minneapolis went to the Upper Midwest Emmys awards this past Weekend.

Lyden didn't win an Emmy, but he did Tweet about his night and apparently also enjoyed a few (too many) beverages along the way. It ended with him threatening to ______ someone's cat.

The Minneapolis City Pages writes that Lyden's tweets, which progressed from slightly saucy at 9 p.m. to full-blown crunked a few hours later.

Snaps of the questionable Tweets and more after the jump.

Cameras Turned on Miami Station

8-24-balloons-jpg.jpg

WPLG in Miami has a feature on the station's website about what drives people crazy about drivers. They write on their site:

"Ever see something on the roads that drives you crazy? Take a picture and send it to Share@Local10.com. Be safe, don't take photos while driving!"

9-30-Big-Jeep-James-jpg.jpg

Viewers send in pictures from te road of drivers that don't seem too worried about safety.

Or those really inconsiderate drivers that don't how to park, or take up more than one spot.

Since WPLG is asking viewers to rat out other drivers, one viewer decided to turn the cameras on the Miami station itself. A viewer spotted and snapped a WPLG live truck parked in a handicap spot and on the sidewalk at the same time.

wplg.truck_.bad_.parking.jpg

Shame! Shame!

Update: A WPLG staffer says that the picture above is misleading. The staffer says that this was designated media parking at a church where a deputy funeral was being held.  The driver was directed to park there by a PIO.  All the live trucks were parked in those handicap spots.
