Here We Go

Today is the start of May Sweeps and that means Anchors will be telling you about their cancer, their battle with alcohol, depression or whatever else they think will drive ratings.

It will also be a month of Anchors announcing their retirements, or actually retiring (which won't happen till the end of May).

First up on the hit parade is longtime KWCH (Wichita) Anchor Cindy Klose who just announced that she will retire from broadcasting on May 25 after 25 years at the station.

Klose joined KWCH as an anchor in 1991 after working at CNN and a station in Champaign, Illinois. h

Klose said she couldn’t pick out a single story as her favorite, but major breaking news events like the Hutchinson gas explosions or Greensburg tornado always brought out the best in her colleagues.

“When the whole team comes together, that’s when I’m most proud,” she said.

She added that she feels honored when people trust her to tell their deeply personal stories.

KWCH announced it would celebrate Klose’s career with pieces every Tuesday. She will sign off for the final time at the end of a special newscast at 6:30 p.m. May 25.

We can't wait.
