Reporter Indicted on Another DWI Charge

The charges against a WMUR Reporter keep piling up.

FTVLive told you that WMUR Reporter Audrey Cox was indicted on aggravated DWI charges after cops say she driving under the influence and hit a 79 year old woman.

Now Cox has a third aggravated DWI charge tacked on this month after prosecutors learned of additional injuries sustained by the woman she allegedly struck with her car last year.

Cox was indicted on one count of aggravated driving under the influence of liquor with serious bodily injury in Rockingham Superior Court. The indictment alleges Cox caused the victim, Sandra Dary, of Rings Terrace, Hampton, to suffer an L1 compression fracture when she struck Dary with her Jeep Patriot Sept. 25 on Ocean Boulevard.

Assistant County Attorney Karen Springer said a medical report indicating the fracture led to the new charge. An L1 compression fracture is in the spine in the lower back area. Dary’s injuries from the crash had previously been identified as fractures to her foot’s fifth metatarsal and her hip, requiring multiple surgeries.

Cox allegedly hit Dary in the breakdown lane of Ocean Boulevard near Winnacunnet Road when Dary was out walking her 12-year-old poodle.

Cox is currently scheduled for a June 13 trial. She pleaded not guilty to her first three charges in December.

Cox’s attorney, Andrew Cotrupi, said she will also plead not guilty to the new charge. He said there was no evidence of alcohol at the scene of the accident.

“We think we’ll be able to put out significant evidence of her sobriety,” Cotrupi said. “Sometimes accidents are just accidents.”
