A longtime Reno Anchor told viewers that she is leaving the station and TV news altogether.
After 21 years, KTVN Anchor Wendy Damonte is ditching TV news to become the Vice President of Advocacy and Community Partnerships at Renown Health.
“Channel 2 has been my home for the past 21 years. I love this station with all my heart and I will continue to support it from the other side of the camera,” said Damonte. “I’m excited for a new challenge and am thrilled to continue my efforts to make the Truckee Meadows a healthy community”, Damonte said.
“All of us at Channel 2 News will miss Wendy’s energy and passion in the newsroom,” said KTVN News Director Jason Pasco. “We know she will be missed by our viewers, too. But, we all wish Wendy and her family all the very best going forward and we thank her for her many years of dedicated service and for her friendship,” said Pasco.
And although she isn't leaving the station until December 17th, she told viewers now because.... you know.... it's still ratings.
Damonte was very stoic and collected in her announcement to viewers. We're kidding she lost it right from the get go.
