Bumped Up in Motown

Back in July, longtime WDIV Anchor Ruth Spencer announced that she was going to retire in December.

The Motown station has finally named Spencer's replacement.

Karen Drew is getting bumped up to the new anchor of WDIV 4 p.m. newscast, beginning Dec. 21.

Drew has been working as an investigative Reporter at the station.

“News is like a puzzle in that there are all these different pieces coming to you throughout the day," Drew told Crain’s on Thursday. "Sometimes all you get is the headlines. At ‘First at 4,’ we take all those pieces that you have seen throughout the day, put it together and show how it relates to you and your community.”

Drew previously reported at WHOA in Montgomery, Ala.; WTVC in Chattanooga, Tenn.; and WJXT-TV in Jacksonville, Fla.
