Headed Down the Road in the Hampton Roads
/fter more than four and a half decades working in the broadcasting trenches, longtime Hampton Roads anchor and reporter Regina Mobley is stepping away from the anchor desk.
Mobley announced that she is retiring from WAVY, the Nexstar-owned NBC affiliate in the Norfolk/Portsmouth market.
“Regina’s impact on WAVY and on the Hampton Roads community extends far beyond the stories she has covered and the awards she has earned,” said Carol Ward, Vice President and General Manager of WAVY-TV and WVBT FOX43. “For more than four decades, she has been a trusted voice for viewers and a tremendous representative of WAVY in our community. We are grateful for all she has given to WAVY and to the viewers she has served and wish her nothing but the very best as she begins this next chapter.”
Before joining Nexstar’s WAVY in recent years, Mobley spent nearly three decades anchoring across town at Tegna-owned WVEC.
Surviving station sales, budget cuts, corporate ownership shifts, and the general grind of daily local TV news for nearly half a century is an achievement few will ever match.
