The Firm Names Their Replacement

When longtime anchor John Hook announced he was wrapping up a 33-year run at Phoenix’s KSAZ, the immediate question was who the Fox O&O would tap to fill the chair.

Now we have our answer, and management didn't have to look far.

Veteran anchor Marc Martinez is stepping into the role, taking over the evening anchor duties alongside Christina Carilla. Martinez is already a familiar face to local viewers, having anchored the station’s 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM newscasts.

This is a smart and solid move for KSAZ. Martinez has the market experience, the chops, and the steady presence needed for a main anchor slot. More importantly, it’s a genuine win for Phoenix viewers, who will benefit from having a more fair, balanced, and unbiased journalist leading the evening newscasts.

Hook is wrapping up a 43-year broadcast career, with more than three decades of it spent at the KSAZ anchor desk. Martinez now officially takes the reins.
