Where is Your Coverage?

A viewer in Spokane emails FTVLive, wondering why KXLY has dropped the ball on coverage of the wildfires that are decimating the area?

This is their email.

Hi Scott,

I live in Spokane, WA where on Saturday, August 1st we had multiple wildfires start here and one that has put thousands of people within the city at risk. As I write around 600 structures have been destroyed and that will likely grow.

This incident is likely going to be one of the largest wildfires in state history in terms of destruction. With this I am completely disappointed in our ABC affiliate KXLY and their coverage. All the local stations around here were covering this by 3 pm local time. KREM our CBS affiliate and KHQ our NBC affiliate covered these until 11:30 that night. KXLY opted to end coverage around 9 PM. I guess reruns of "The Rookie" take precedence?

Fast forward to the next morning where KHQ and KREM as I type this at 10:30 AM are still covering this with what appears to be no end in sight. KXLY however is showing a WNBA game. At the bare minimum they should at least be on  a sub channel, they even have their own subchannel called KXLY+, but this channel appears to only air previous news segments and videos from their online and app platforms. The absurdity of this is as I write this the report on right now is from before the fires and discussing how dangerous the upcoming conditions are and what to do.

All I can ask is what the hell is going on at KXLY? Why would you not be all hands on deck for something like this? This is exactly why KXLY has always been an afterthought in this market.
