It seems that these days in TV news, staying at one station for three years is considered a long run. Imagine spending nearly four decades at the same desk is practically unheard of.

Friday marked the final sign-off for Noreen Turyn, Senior Anchor and Managing Editor at Sinclair-owned ABC affiliate WSET 13 in Lynchburg/Roanoke, Virginia.

Turyn is retiring after 36 years with the station.

She first walked through the front doors of WSET back in 1990 as a part-time reporter. Over the next three and a half decades, she anchored Good Morning Virginia, moved up to the 6:00 p.m. desk in 2004, and eventually anchored the station’s 5:00, 7:00, and 11:00 p.m. broadcasts.

Along the way, she racked up hard-hitting investigative honors winning awards and reporting on stories that made a difference.

Finding true broadcast pros who give almost 40 years of dedicated service to a single community is rare these days.
