Nexstar Cleans House at the Beach

Nexstar has owned WBTW (Myrtle Beach) for almost a decade, after purchasing it from Media General.

The last couple of years, it has been a bloodbath at the station. Sources tell FTVLive that more than 50 people, including the former GM, ND, Creative Services Director and business manager have left WBTW in the past two years.

With new management coming on board, it is the talent that has been getting kicked to the curb. In the past few months, the entire main anchor team left the station. Trish Munn, Trish Williford (pictured), Edward Moody (pictured), Skylar Musick and Meteorologist Scotty Powell have all exited.

“None of these people wanted to leave,” says a station insider to FTVLive.

“Over the last 6 months, at least 8 on air members have been fired, had their contracts not renewed, or simply left because of the unfair treatment. That does not count digital staffing. If you don't fit the mold of a young, beautiful female or act as a yes man, you are gone,” said one former on-air person, who was let go.
