Exodus at this Nexstar station
/We have heard from a few staffers at Nexstar’s WCIA (Champaign, IL), who are wondering what is happening at their own station?
Talent is leaving, and some have been missing from the air, with no explanation from management, according to insiders.
“We’re now down five of our main on-air personalities. About three weeks ago, meteorologist Seth Bohnoff left. Shortly after, lifestyle host Jaclyn Friedlander unexpectedly departed. Then, on Thursday, 34-year veteran Jennifer Roscoe signed off for the final time. Her co-host, Brandon Merano, has been off the air for four weeks with no public explanation,” said one station insider, adding, “Today, meteorologist Adam Sherwinski announced he’s leaving as well. And from what I’m hearing, there could be more departures to come.”
The staffer claims, “People are leaving because of management. Unfortunately, there’s very little transparency, and those in local news often can’t speak publicly about what’s really happening behind the scenes.”
FTVLive agrees that the most important thing that newsroom and station management can do is be completely transparent with the staff. But this also seems to be an area that many managers completely miss the mark.
Hopefully, WCIA management can explain to their staff what they know and just be straight with them.
Stay tuned…
