Seattle Reporter Rips Influencers

KING Reporter Jim Nelson, clutching two Emmys in his hands, got up at the local Emmy awards and ripped into influencers.

Nelson spent a lot of time yelling about what he has done, and what influencers have NOT done. You can watch his rant at this link.

After it was posted on social media, Nelson jumped into the comments and tried to put the toothpaste back in the tube a bit.

Before I get to some of the other comments, let me weigh in with my take.

I have no issues at all with influencers and the job they do. I watch a lot of YouTube and I watch all kinds of influencers, and very much enjoy their content.

My issue, unlike Nelson’s is not to rip on influencers or the job they do, my problem is with the Reporters/Anchors who try to be influencers.

You’re either a Journalist, or an influencer, but you can’t be both. The ethics and standards for the jobs are completely different.

Some other people took issue with Nelson’s comments and I can’t say I blame them.

Lastly, watch this story done by an influencer and tell me if it is not better than what you are seeing on local newscasts these days.
