Nexstar Takes the Cheap Road
/On the last day of the May book, WFLA (Tampa) Anchor Keith Cate will sign off from the station.
Cate has spent 44 years in TV news and is ready to call it a day.
When Cate announced he was stepping down, WFLA staffers and viewers wondered who would be taking his spot?
Well, a station source says the answer to that question is “nobody”.
“WFLA is taking the cheap way out and not replacing him and instead going to have single anchor shows at 6 and 11 p.m. The anchors and producers are really unhappy with the decision,” the source tells FTVLive, adding, “hey, see Nexstar choosing to save a few dollars instead of making the newscasts the best they can be. Morale is very low right now and station management doesn't seem to care at all.”
Nexstar continues to look to cut where they can.
