Magid Shutting Down (Updated)
/For over six decades, Magid has been consulting Tv stations on how they should present their news.
The TV consultant has shaped, or some might say ruined the industry for decades.
I could go one with my thoughts of TV consultants for hours. But I will save you the details (you’re welcome).
But, this much is clear, the days of the highly paid TV consultant maybe coming to an end.
Sources tell FTVLive that the 800 pound gorilla of TV consulting is looking to scale back. Word is that Magid is looking to close their offices in New York and Los Angelas.
Magid started in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and now is headquartered out of Minneapolis.
No word on how many people the closing of NY and LA impacts, but it appears to be a sign that the TV consulting business, just like broadcasting is headed for much leaner times.
Stay tuned…
Update: John Rood Magid’s Chief Brand and Communications Officer sent this statement to our story. “To clarify, Magid is not closing its offices nor reducing staff. We are consolidating and optimizing our office footprint to better support our hybrid work model, while maintaining our current team and ongoing operations. Our domain experts are out where our clients are, or where it is most comfortable and productive to work.”
I’m not sure what “consolidating and optimizing our office footprint to better support our hybrid work model” means, but there you go.
Consultant speak makes my head hurt.
