It Was Fair, But...

FTVLive got this message from a right-leaning person who works in TV news. It was in regards to FTVLive’s coverage of Tony Dokoupil.

Here is the message:

“Your take on Tony Dokoupil is fair; however, the only reason you are on a witch hunt is because you are liberal and you despise the fact that CBS is bending center to center right.

CBS, ABC, and NBC have all been left of center for well over a decade. In a country that’s essentially divided 50/50, I ask you why it’s acceptable for all three major television networks to lean to the left?

I maintain that it would be equally inappropriate for all three networks to lean to the right, but we’re not in that situation. At least CBS is providing an alternative to half of the national populous that ABC and NBC would like to pretend does not exist.”

So, in other words, my coverage was FAIR, but the only reason I did the coverage is because I’m a liberal.

The messenger admits that CBS News is moving “center to center right.” If they were in the center, that’s perfect and I have no issue. If your news organization is “center right” or “center left”, I have an issue.

Also, if I’m only going after the right and not the left, why did I do this story on ABC’s David Muir? Or, this story, or maybe that story, and even this story.

Many believe that CNN is a left-leaning news operation. Have you read FTVLive’s coverage of CNN over the past 15 years? Does that seem like a liberal sticking up for CNN?

You can claim what you want about me and you have every right to do so. But, it still doesn’t make you correct. My entire life, I have been registered as an Independent, and my voting record is all over the place.

I look at my job as to call it as I see it, and I don’t give a crap which side of the political aisle it’s on. You can choose to believe it, or not, but I will let 26 years of FTVLive coverage speak for itself.
