The Ego at ABC News
/Insiders at ABC News tell FTVLive that Correspondents better get used to saying Muir’s name.
Sources tell FTVLive that Muirs’ producers have mandated that when they go live to reporters after a recorded piece, the reporters have to utter his name "David" twice. It goes something like this:
Story ends
Reporter live
Reporter: "David, what we're seeing are stronger and stronger winds as the storm gets closer. David..."
This isn't some adlib; it's in every live. The producers claim it helps with "branding" David so viewers never forget he's the anchor and they are watching HIS newscast.
I’m old enough when the the stories were the focus of the newscasts.
