Expanding News in KC

Gray Media’s KCTV (Kansas City) is expanding its morning news footprint next month.

Beginning Feb. 2, the station will produce a new two-hour block of news running from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. The newscast will air on sister station KSMO and stream on the station's OTT platform.

The expansion adds 10 hours of local news production to the weekly schedule.

For the new time slot, Janae’ Hancock will join current morning anchors Bill Hurrelbrink and Carolina Cruz at the desk. Meteorologist Warren Sears is being brought in to handle the forecast, while Taylor Johnson continues with traffic reports.

“With so much happening in Kansas City right now, we want to make it easier for local viewers to get the information they need,” said KCTV GM Curtis Miles. “Expanding our local news and weather to share the content on both KSMO and on our streaming platform was the perfect option.”
