Coming Out of Retirement to Anchor Once Again

Longtime Acadiana anchor Darla Montgomery is returning to the airwaves, joining News 15 (KADN/KLAF) to host a new midday lifestyle program.

Montgomery will front News 15 Midday With Darla, which is set to air weekdays at noon beginning in March.

The move comes after Montgomery retired from the anchor desk at competitor KLFY last year, citing "differences over news philosophy."

"I look forward to once again doing what I love," Montgomery said. "Broadcasting has always been about connection and community, and I am grateful for this exciting opportunity to work in this new role with the News 15 family."

Montgomery’s hiring continues a trend of veteran talent migrating to News 15. The station has recently picked up anchors Marcelle Fontenot, Jim Hummel, and Scott Brazda, following operational changes at rival station KATC.

KADN/KLAF VP/GM Jim Parker touted the acquisition of the market veterans while taking a swipe at the competition.

"The quality of these highly-experienced professionals at News 15 is unmatched and unduplicated," Parker said. "The math is clear, 10 plus 3 simply doesn't equal 15."
