Taking Over in The Land

Tegna’s struggling WKYC (Cleveland) named Julie Flynn the station’s new News Director.

Flynn officially starts the job Today. She was the station’s Deuce and before that, Flynn was WKYC’s director of innovation, whatever that is.

Flynn takes over as News Director at a time when Tegna is unleashing regional VP’s of News across the country.

This basically means that Flynn, and the rest of the Tegna News Directors, won’t be able to make any big decisions, without running it up the ladder.

Of course, this will make the Tegna station’s newscasts look even more homogenized and take away any local feel.
