Let’s hear from you guys…

This comes from a TV news vet who reads the FTVLive 100% free newsletter.

Scott, as a retired veteran of local TV (40 years in the trenches) I’ve grown to look forward to reading your work. The commentaries at the top have been spot-on. I poured my professional life into this business and cannot help being deeply concerned. You are helping me realize I am not the only flinty-eyed realist out there. The road ahead is strew with hazards both real and unknown. Keep it up. Like it or not, we need your point of view.

In regards to CNN finally hiring and AI person.

Email:

And just like FTVLive, millions of others are already working with AI to do research, write, create and improve work flows. As always, broadcasters are behind and have to play catch up. The rest of the world is working with AI in all sorts of ways, meanwhile CNN hires a guy to figure out how to use AI in operations? Its going to be weeks, possibly months before any producer, anchor, reporter, technician, designer, or engineer sees results of what this new guy will do. I am also betting the smart employees are already using AI effectively outside of the company's view with great success!  Why is broadcast dying? They are always in a constant game called "Catch up".

That announcement Ryan Struyk made really does show the level of professionalism of journos/the news biz: "oh, and I got a new headshot!"

‎Reach for the stars, big guy. It screams 16yo girl.
