When it comes to sending out push alerts, especially later at night, TV stations would really be asking themselves is this something the viewers need to know right now?

At 9:45PM on Monday night, Tegna’s KPNX in Phoenix sent out this as a push alert to viewers.

“Are you kidding me? How is this newsworthy for a station in market no. 12 — and a push alert on top of that this late at night?” said one market insider to FTVLive.

Another viewer emailed us and said that they deleted the KPNX app, seconds after getting the push alert.

Can’t say I blame them.
