In regards to this Tegna Story.

It’s obvious what Tegna is doing with these 5 new VP’s of content: they’re regionalizing news leadership exactly the same way they regionalized marketing. Don’t be surprised if two or three more VP’s of content are hired, and Tegna assigns each of them to a region to oversee the entire region.
Expect Tegna to do a clean sweep of station news directors soon. They’re trying to put the writing on the wall, so perhaps some of them will break contract and have to pay the company for doing so…just like KVLY did to the anchor who is suing them. Scripps is so broke they’ve done the same with news producers…they’re chasing after 40-50k a year people who escaped their station’s incompetent management for as little as the $2k penalty these producers supposedly “owe”.
Severances for 60+ news directors would be mighty expensive. So why not try to push as many out as you can? It’s certainly worth a shot.
There’s has to be a consulting firm behind all these horrible decisions, like Magid was behind Allen media regionalizing weather. Consulting firms don’t do “research” and “strategy” for local stations…they’re paid by these companies only to tell executives what they want to hear. If consultants gave advice executives didn’t like…companies wouldn’t keep their business with the consulting firm.
The decline of local news is self inflicted by moron CEO’s like Mike Stieb who couldn’t care less about the communities they serve.
Talking about News Nation’s boss.

Sean Compton knows that using the phrase “Democrat party” is a MAGA dog whistle. How can the head of a “network” who claims to be down the middle use that phrase and be taken seriously. He just exposed his political leanings. He should be fired for that, oh and also for the complete failure that News Nation is.
