Former News Director/Anchor is Suing Nexstar's KTAL

Former KTBS 3 News Director and Anchor Bill Lunn has filed a lawsuit alleging that Nexstar's KTAL, where he previously served as News Director and Anchor, failed to properly vet, edit, or confirm defamatory accusations labeling him a child predator. The lawsuit underscores the prominent role Lunn held at both Shreveport stations.

Lunn's resignation from KTBS in June of last year followed a Shreveport Police investigation into an incident he reported as an assault and attempted truck theft. Lunn stated he was lured to a Shreveport residence via a dating app, where three men were present. The investigation revealed these men were allegedly conducting their own "sting operation" targeting what they believed to be sexual predators. They accused Lunn of sending inappropriate text messages and pictures to someone he thought was an underage girl. However, detectives determined that text messages sent to Lunn had been altered to create the false impression he was communicating with a minor. The police investigation concluded that Lunn believed he was speaking with a 19-year-old woman and harbored no criminal intent.

Subsequently, two of the three men involved in the incident were arrested in connection with a series of crimes where they allegedly lured, beat, and robbed other men.

In the 34-page lawsuit, Lunn contends that the allegations made against him were never verified or checked by KTAL, and that the station has yet to correct the story, despite possessing exculpatory information.

Nexstar Media Group, the parent company of KTAL, along with KTAL anchors Dan and Jacque Jovic, who are married, are named as defendants in the lawsuit. Lunn is seeking unspecified damages. KTBS 3's attempt to reach Nexstar Media Group for comment on the lawsuit has, to date, received no response.
