Where Did the Newscasts Go?

A viewer in Albuquerque tells FTVLive that something strange happened with Hearst-owned KOAT.

“I turned over there a few minutes before 5:00, and I saw David Muir signing off at the end of World News Tonight. Thought maybe some special event was causing the local newscasts to be preempted… but 5:00 came along, and instead of KOAT’s 5pm newscast, I see ABC’s World News Tonight starting over and airing, AGAIN. No explanation, either via message scrolling on the screen, via station social media.. regarding what’s going on. Just another re-airing of World News Tonight,” the tipster wrote.

The tipster followed up and it appears the station did do a newscast, but some viewers didn’t see it.

The viewer writes, “I checked KOAT’s website for newscasts on demand, it looks like they did a 4pm and 5pm newscast, at it’s on their “on demand” thing, main anchors Shelly Ribando & Doug Fernandez, along with Chief Met Joe Diaz (retiring in May), were there, doing a regular newscast like nothing was wrong.. could someone have accidentally switched to the ABC network feed or something? Never seen something like this.”

We looked through the KOAT Twitter account, but did not see any mention of what happened?
