Hearst owned KCCI (Des Moines) has promoted Natalie Cabieses to replace news director Allison Smith, who moved to sister station KETV in Omaha.
Cabieses, who will become only the fifth news director at KCCI history. She joined the station February 2024 as Assistant News Director.
“Natalie is known for being able to make strong decisions, fast and keep a calm demeanor,” KCCI's President and General Manager Brian Sather said.
Cabieses began her career working at stations in central and southwestern Florida. Before coming to KCCI, she served as executive producer at fellow Hearst television station WISN in Milwaukee.
“As a Latina woman, I am incredibly humbled to be in this position to not only cover the news fairly and accurately, but also to empower young women who may be able to see themselves in my chair one day,” Cabieses said.
