He'll Be The Deuce and an Investigative Reporter
/WBRZ, the sole locally-owned television station serving southeast Louisiana, has appointed veteran investigative journalist Stephen Stock to its newsroom leadership team. Stock will serve in a dual role as Assistant News Director and Investigative Reporter, bringing decades of national-level investigative experience to the market.
In his new capacity, Stock will be central to guiding editorial strategy and mentoring journalists, while also leading major investigative projects across all WBRZ platforms. His reporting will focus on government accountability and issues of direct local impact across Baton Rouge and Louisiana.
Stock's career includes an extensive background in watchdog journalism across multiple major US markets, including investigative roles in New Orleans, San Francisco Bay, Miami, Orlando, and Greenville, S.C. Crucially, Stock previously served as a National Investigative Correspondent for CBS News, where he contributed to major national investigations and broadcasts.
General Manager Andrew Shenkan stated that Stock's investigative expertise and leadership experience are expected to significantly enhance the station’s commitment to high-quality, community-minded reporting.
Stock said he is looking forward to joining WBRZ, citing its legacy and the opportunity to "lead a new generation of journalists as we uncover and tell the stories that matter and make a difference in our community." He emphasized his focus on "uncovering stories that hold the powerful to account and give voice to the voiceless."
The hire comes as WBRZ celebrates its 70th anniversary under the ownership of the Manship family. Stock will join the leadership team headed by GM Andrew Shenkan and News Director Letitia Walker.
