Tegna Takes a Page From Allen Media

nobody thought it was a good idea when Allen Media started laying off local Meteorologists and having the weather produced and anchored out of Atlanta.

Well, nobody but Tegna that is…

In taking a page straight out of the Allen Media playbook, Tegna has decided use “national multi-market meteorologists.”

The company says that using hubbed Mets will meteorologists to fill in with breaking weather news, cover vacations, and more to keep coverage going instead of needing multiple backup meteorologists in each market.

If you believe that, I have some swampland here in Florida you might want to buy.

Tegna is making it sound like no one will be laid off and that this national Meteorologist thing will just cover vacation and sick days.

I don’t buy this plan for a second. I will bet that as Mets leave they won’t be replaced. I also think you eventually will see cuts.

KENS (San Antonio) Met Ryan Shoptaugh posted he is one of those that will be in the Tegna hub.
