Job Well Done
/It is nice to highlight some of those that still do journalism.
A Providence area viewer sent this email to FTVLive and we thought we would share.
Hey,
Long time reader, former reporter and a big fan. I'm living in Providence and was one of many who were concerned that the Brown University shooter was still roaming around. With all the crap we see spewed out from media outlets all over the country, social media, the national media trying to bully their way into the Providence community, and names being leaked for the sake of being first, I have to say local news came through.
I've been following Brian Crandall from WJAR here in Providence. I have to say he did a quality job of informing his community, not spreading panic, not making anything about himself, and using his sources to not only make sure he was first but, most importantly, making sure he was RIGHT.
Brian's coverage was a win for local news. Last night, my wife and I just kept following Brian's feed where he was breaking down the moments leading to the police finding the shooter. We followed Brian because he was just more reliable than the rest throughout the week and we knew we were getting the straight facts. We trust Brian.
Brian doesn't dance, doesn't post selfies, he simply reports the news.
I knew Crandall was good, but the job he's done this week is a reason why he's one of the most respected reporters in our market. Old school, hard-nosed reporting and I just wanted to have the chance to share how much of an asset he is to our community, and to the local news industry.
And, no, I have never worked with Brian Crandall. This is me giving credit where it's due.
Keep up the good work.
