New Hire in the Natty

A familiar face to national morning show viewers is stepping into a new leadership role in a major Midwest market. Stephanie Roberts, a meteorologist who has covered severe weather for ABC's Good Morning America, has been named the new Chief Meteorologist for WXIX-TV in Cincinnati.

Roberts brings extensive experience covering major weather events from the field. During her time as a freelance meteorologist for Good Morning America, she reported on everything from East Coast blizzards and Midwest snowstorms to the stateside impact of the Japan tsunami and earthquake.

A Chicago native, Roberts is no stranger to challenging northern weather, having built her career forecasting in Minneapolis, Toledo, and Cleveland. Most recently, she has been based in Florida, serving as the executive producer and host of the weekday talk show Suncoast View at WWSB-TV in Sarasota.

In November, she will join Cincinnati's WXIX-TV, which is owned by Gray Media, succeeding a meteorologist who recently retired after a 48-year career. In an internal memo announcing her hiring, the station noted, “Her passion and excitement is contagious.”
