Uncle Perry is Sticking Around
/Depending on who you ask, this is either good news, or not good at all.
Nexstar Media Group announced that the board of directors has extended the employment agreement of chairman and chief executive officer, Perry A. Sook, through March 31, 2029. Sook is the company’s third-largest shareholder.
Sook founded Nexstar Media Group in 1996 and has held the chief executive officer position since that time. During his tenure, Sook has overseen the completion and integration of over 40 acquisitions. Nexstar currently operates as a diversified media company and is recognized as the largest local broadcasting group in the United States.
In a statement regarding the extension, Sook commented on the company's trajectory: “As we embark on this next phase of growth for Nexstar, I have never been more energized about the prospects for the industry, for Nexstar and for what Nexstar can become. I look forward to leading the company to new levels of success and continuing to create value for our shareholders, our advertisers, our employees and the communities we serve.”
